Yoo whats up yall
I run a studio called @ThaFourthFloor here in Macon and I just finished producing a compilation tape called “4th78: Volume One.”

It’s 23 local artists all from Macon or surrounding areas, all recorded within 1 single week.
It’s 14 tracks, about 30 mins. It drops October 23.

We put flyers up around Mercer this week and I realized nobody on campus probably knows what the hell it is. So instead of just promoting at y'all, I'd rather get somebody from Mercer to actually listen and tell me what they think.

Looking for:

· A Mercer student (any major, don't gotta be a music person)
· Willing to listen to the tape before it drops and write or film an honest review
· Good or bad, I don't care. I want real feedback, not promo

I'll give you early access to the album, credit on the post, and free studio time at Fourth Floor if you ever want to record something.

If you're interested or know somebody who'd be down, comment or DM me.

Also happy to answer any questions about the project!

I feel like throughout the album the artists where able to voice their pain and make connections to why Macon has become such a violent city.

So I want people outside of their specific demographic to give it a listen and feel what these artists have to say and see if it connects to you personally, despite having a different background.

edit: Doesn’t have to be a Mercer student, any college or hip-hop fan will do!! As many as possible are welcome!

I have been looking for some adult soccer pickup games or teams to play on for a while. I’m 24 yo male at Mercer medical school looking for a Sunday league or something.

Does anyone know of any place to play pickup games or to join teams and what are the requirements for playing?

Hi everyone, I’m looking for someone with demolition or construction experience for a demolition position in the Warner Robins area. It would be a temp position with perm opportunity with a Monday through Friday schedule from 8am-4pm at $17.50 an hour. If that is something you’re interested please send your resume over to this account.

Hey there! My partner and I are relocating to the Middle Georgia area this coming January and I could use some perspectives on communities that would be the best fit for us. We are in our early 30’s and coming from the midwest Illinois/Wisconsin area. My partner will be teaching at Mercer and I work in medicine and will be working in Perry, GA.

I am wondering where folks would suggest living. From the posts on here, sounds like people usually prefer North Macon, but that would make my daily commute about 40 minutes each way. I am wondering if folks would recommend moving to downtown Macon or if it’s worth moving to Byron which would be a bit more in the middle of both our jobs.  We’re probably looking to rent a 2-3 bedroom until we can get a feel for what we like before buying. Price isn’t a concern as we don’t mind spending a bit more for the right setup.

Would love any feedback or tips on any of the places we’re considering!

1. Lofts at Capricorn (heard the train tracks in the back can be loud)
2. Neel’s Lofts (most expensive for a 2BR - worth it?)
3. Renting a house near Vineville area
4. Highland Pointe Townhomes
5. Legends at Town Place in Byron, GA

Would appreciate any other suggestions!

I’m building Try478 to make it easier to find things to do around Macon and Middle Georgia like places to visit, events, and nearby trips, with filters for town, date, and budget.

Would appreciate some blunt feedback. Is it useful? What places should be on there that aren’t?

There is an ongoing hunger strike involving at least 500 detainees at the Folkston ICE Detention Center. Detainees have been suffering from insufficient, inedible food, poor sleep conditions, a lack of medical care, and lengthy detentions without recourse. With this, in conjunction with the recent ICE shooting in NY and the upcoming election, Middle Georgia DSA members overwhelmingly voted to hold a caravan this Sunday, October 18th to show solidarity with the detainees and bring attention to the cruelty of ICE on our immigrant community.

If you plan to participate in the caravan please RSVP using the link above, and meet us at 9:00AM at the Perry Chamer of Commerce, 900 Carroll Street on Sunday, October 18th to drive down to the Detention Center and participate in the rally at 1:00PM.

Hey everyone, my boyfriend (25m) and I (24f) have been feeling stumped in finding new friends here. We’re both recent college grads and have just started our careers in Macon. Both of us had a super easy time meeting people/cultivating friendships in college, but are struggling to do the same here. What are y’all’s tips for connecting with other young people here? We’re not huge drinkers, but love the outdoors, staying active, and music…

I'm sure that this question has been asked ad-nauseam on this subreddit.

I (29M) trying to look through events and places throughout the region.

Do you have any recommendations?

No churches. Bars are fine. I'm the type to be in the corner and read when I'm bored or exhausted.

Am I allowed to post an item for sale on this subreddit? I am looking to get rid of an item and am looking for local buyers but need to know if I can post that on here

Hello hello!

I’m new here to Macon and my pup needs a dental cleaning some kind of bad. I am nervous when it comes to vets so I’m looking for some reassurance from others experiences in the area. Questions like how long have you been with the vet and have you had experiences with them putting your pet under anesthesia with them? Also have you boarded your pet with them and if so how did that go?

Open to all good and bad feedback. Can’t even be too safe.

Thank you in advance for the suggestions and helping calm my nerves!

We got a Halloween show this Saturday!! It’s sure to be super fun!! Can’t wait to show the costumes I’ve been sewing/making!

Hello,

I am going to Macon City Auditorium for an event. On the website, it states:

Parking Guidelines

On-street parking and lot parking are available near and around the Macon City Auditorium.

Street parking in downtown Macon requires drivers to secure their parking spot via the ParkMobile app or ParkMobile website Monday – Saturday between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm. Instructions for how to use ParkMobile are posted on signs and meters in each parking zone. Download the app or follow the posted QR codes to get started!

Parking lots around the Macon City Auditorium are not owned or managed by the Macon City Auditorium. Parking availability and prices may vary. No parking is allowed in Rosa Parks Square adjacent to the Auditorium or any other unauthorized parking locations.

I used the app to reserve parking and for some reason the only reservation parking I can buy is Mulberry Street Garage. I bought the parking and then googled the address, but according to Google Maps, that parking lot is closed.

We cannot go back to having the kkk in our backyard. That’s what mike collins and the repubs want. If I can go through the annoying process to vote from abroad and pay 50$ to ship my ballot, you guys can vote too please PLEASE PLEASE VOTE

Hey I’m currently looking for work. I was wondering if you all have spotted or any knowledge on what’s available and who’s actively hiring. Most places never reach back out. Should I reach out to them ?

My wife and I just bought a house in Macon and are getting ready to make the move from California's Central Valley. Honestly, when we saw how affordable it was and how much space we were getting, we thought it was a scam. That's the California in me, I guess!
Here's what we're leaving behind:
Weather: Winter doesn't start until late November, we barely get rain, spring brings triple-digit days, and we're in a constant drought.
Safety: Our city sees around 35–45 homicides a year (it topped 70 in 2012), and most go unsolved. Homelessness is out of control, and fires, car break-ins, and tire theft are constant.
Cost of living: Electricity runs 35–45 cents per kWh, and our power bill is $350+ a month for an apartment we're barely home in because we're always working. A 2-bed, 2-bath goes for $1,500–1,700 if you're lucky. Gas is around $5.90 (it's hit $7), milk is $5, a small tub of coffee is $15, and chips are $5–6 a bag.

I'm tired of working three jobs and still not getting ahead. We've saved up enough to cover a few months while we get settled, and we're ready for a new chapter.
A few questions for locals:
Weather: What are winters like? Does it snow, or is it mostly cold and rainy? How rough are the summers?
Bugs: How bad are they really?
Jobs: I have about 10 years in construction sales. What's the job market like in that field?
Community: I also run a BBQ catering business that grew pretty big back home, and I'd love to take it full time. How's the local food scene, and is the community welcoming to small businesses and vendors? Feel free to check us out on Instagram: @ds_bbqest25
I'd appreciate hearing both the good and the bad. Thanks in advance!
