I'm ecstatic. We were supposed to renew our lease, right? Except they upped the price by about $400... again. We'd be paying about $3200 for 1,000 sq ft.
I went in to negotiate. They dropped it to a $55 increase, and then told me that if I moved out, they'd charge me an extra month's rent for giving insufficient notice (I was, apparently, 1 day late in coming in to talk to them).
This smelled like bullshit to me, so I did some digging. I combed through our lease and found the specific clause, and then read up on the specific statute it referenced. That led me on a deep dive where I learned that they have to provide me a reminder of the fee at least 15 days in advance.
It was mentioned at the bottom of an email, and I thought it was over. But... hm, the statute specified written.
As it turns out, the notice must be given on paper unless the tenant and occupant agree to receive notices virtually. In our contract, it says over and over again "you agree to receive notices electronically unless otherwise specified in the relevant statute."
Guess what relevant statute has a specific exception? The one that requires them to give notice! They must have the tenant sign a separate addendum to the lease that we can clearly opt out of in order for notices regarding that specific fee to be legally binding. So, they missed their window!
I wrote them an email and asked where we'd signed the addendum. They copied a clause from the original lease (insufficient) and said "oh, here it is! But we want to work with you, so we'll waive the fee."
You ever heard of a landlord passing up an easy 3k check? I sure as hell haven't. Methinks somebody fucked up!
Fast forward, I'm touring around other apartments. They show me some units, then tell me the price goes up the longer the unit is on the market. I.e., if we sign right now quick don't miss it, we get a better deal.
They pitch 2.4k, 2.5k, and I say, "Wait a minute. You're owned by the same company that I'm with right now, and you require all tenants to give you this notice, right? So you know what units will be available when my lease ends. Can we see if any similar floorplans will be ready nearer our move-in-date?"
"Oh, yeah! I can check! You might get a better price..."
She puts it into the computer, "Let's see... oh. Oh. Yeah, that's... wow. That's a better price."
1.9k. We locked that shit down, and not only is it bigger than the prev. unit, it's about 5 minutes from the unit they were going to charge us 3.2k for.
So all in all, I'll be saving $15,600 a year (+ the ~3k they waived). I cannot wait.

Had the day off today, slept in, and didn’t really have anything planned, so I rode out to grab some lunch. Was gonna head straight home after.
But the weather was just way too nice. Warm sun, barely any wind. I ended up ordering a coffee after lunch, pulled out Normal People — a friend lent it to me a few days ago — and just sat there reading.
Whenever I got tired of reading, I’d look around for a bit, sit in the sun, then go back to the book. Barely touched my phone tbh. At some point I looked up and realized the light had completely changed.
I’d only planned to stay for a little while and somehow ended up spending the whole afternoon there. Felt really calm. Just... happy.
Lately I’ve been loving this kind of thing — getting on the bike with no real plan and just seeing where the day goes. Hungry? Stop somewhere. Nice weather? Ride a bit longer. Pass a park? Sit down for a while. Need a coffee? Easy.
I used to spend loads of my free time lying at home scrolling, then suddenly realie a few hours had disappeared.
Now I’d much rather be outside doing something I actually chose to do instead of endlessly scrolling through whatever the algorithm decides to throw at me next.

My friend and I visited a winery this summer, and it was honestly one of the happiest days I’ve had in a while.
The views were amazing — rows of grapevines, a pond with a fountain, and a building on the hill that made it feel like we were in Europe. We just sat there with our wine, talking about everything and nothing, and before we knew it, three hours had passed.
There were a lot of couples there too, and they even have a special spot for proposals. I thought that was so romantic! It made me think, “I really want to come back here with a boyfriend someday.” 😂
If you’re looking for a slow, relaxing day, I highly recommend visiting a local winery. Has anyone else been to a winery that’s perfect for a date?

Had a good time in Japan, especially this day by the coast. Had my osprey bag with my iphone 16 and Telesin selfie stick in it. Looking through the photos now, I wish I'd stayed a few more days.
16M and my first relationship had a horrible crash and I’ve been scared of dating again for a year. Just recently started talking with a girl that apparently has liked me for a while, we hung out and it went great, we both were very talkative, social, etc. We had a blast. She was cold and I gave her my zip-up that she wore all day. I’m home and laying down, wearing the same zip-up and in all honesty I don’t know if it’s considered weird or abnormal but it smells like her and every time I inhale it’s just a deep pang in my chest. Like it’s not with any sort of weird or creepy intention, it’s just giddy happiness. I know I shouldn’t get my hopes up early on in a relationship and to just take it one step at a time but nothing has made me feel that sorta pang in my chest in a long time.
It’s my favorite jacket and it smelling like someone else, especially someone I’m into, is such a pleasant first time thing
I really hope this goes well, and again I hope this doesn’t come off as creepy 😭

I have a lot of hard days, but I have an amazing partner. I NEEDED this stuffy that I got with the mail today, and it came gift wrapped and everything. Total surprise.
I love how much actual thought and time it took for this big guy to get to me. Xx

Today my classmates and I visited the aquaculture project we have been working on under our department chairperson. We are farming tilapia and pacu, and our goal is to avoid giving the fish extra feed. Instead, their own waste is recycled to feed them. We have also installed aerators, which keep the oxygen levels up so we don't have to keep changing the water.
Seeing it actually work was such a happy moment. The fish are growing really well, and it looks like the project is going to be a success. We should also get good fish breed from it.
Its one thing to plan something on paper, and another to stand there and watch it come alive. I walked out of the site feeling proud of what we have built.

it’s insane what i can do! I wish i was as strong as an ant with their tiny arms. But double my weight is what I’m capable of at the moment 🙏. I have a lot to learn from ants. He was telling me I could probably lift that giant 200 pound appliance. And I did it!

I spent my entire 26 years on this Earth, believing that I was completely incapable and unworthy of anything good in life. I’ve watched my peers get jobs, find relationships, start families… All while I stayed stuck and stagnant for reasons I couldn’t understand. I always had this deep feeling of being an outsider.
Recently, I found out about and was diagnosed with ADHD, started treatment, and it is incredible how much my life has changed in this short time. It has made me understand that I was never stupid, I just never had the tools and understanding to realise my potential. I wasn’t even anxious, I was just living with crippling fear that people would eventually realise I was different and reject me for it. Not any more. I know who I am and I’m no longer ashamed. I know things won’t be easy but I’m ready and excited to give it my all.
I finally see all the possibilities ahead of me and I’m so excited to find out my true potential. I am finally happy :)

I’ve been struggling with severe anxiety/depression and just seeing other people’s outlook on life and the happiness and joy they can experience has made me realise I can too.
Thankyou so much everyone

My husband got tickets for me to be able to meet my hero Milo Rossi for our 25th wedding anniversary on Halloween. Milo is an archaeologist on YouTube that inspired me to work toward my Bachelors in History at 50 years old.
A lot of time was stolen from me fighting stage IV cancer twice and recovering from the experiences. After I was well, I decided to go back to college to try and become a better human who can help others in their community. I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do or if I even wanted to go on to a 4-year school at all…I just wanted to better myself.
After taking History classes with a fantastic professor and watching this skinny kid on YouTube with fabulous hair drinking beer and talking passionately about the past and how important it is to preserve it, I decided to work toward a Bachelor’s in History. So far I have my Associates and start working on my Bachelor’s in Spring.
Milo’s videos informed and inspired me to go on to become a historian. No matter what political side you are on, preserving the actual truth SHOULD be important. It is vital we remember what is truly happening at this turbulent time and it is going to be up to historians to tell the facts as they happened and protect that history. We also need to ensure that we preserve and remember the past as it actually happened. Misinformation is like a cancer and the only cure is the truth, I want to tell that truth.

You know, I’ve always felt that there is something magical about birthdays. As if the world slows down for a little while, time turns another page, and somewhere in the sky, a tiny star begins to shine just for you. Every year, I welcome this day with the hope that maybe, this time, things will be a little different. That I will feel not just a year older, but a little happier, too. Perhaps these are the days when we want, more than ever, to know that we’ve left a mark on someone’s life, that someone remembers us not because they have to, but because we matter to them. As you grow older, you begin to understand that real magic is rarely loud. Sometimes, it hides in a single message, a few sincere words, or a small act of kindness you never expected. Today, I simply want to wish myself more light, more beautiful encounters, and more people who make me feel that I matter without making me question my worth. I hope that one day, I will look back and realize that the loneliest chapters of my story are far behind me
Anyway, happy new year to me. I hope this year will be kinder than the last. And maybe, this time, someone will remember me on this day

Here are some photos from my trip to St. Augustine, Florida. My exams were finally over, so I went there with a friend to take a break. After a week of studying and presentations, I really needed it.
The first photo is the courtyard inside the old fort. We walked around the fort and then visited a museum. It was nice to walk around the town and see all the old buildings.
We also went to the beach and ate a lot of seafood. I had oysters, which were my favorite part of the trip.
It was a short trip, but it was a great way to relax after exams. Now I’m back and trying to get used to normal life again.

I really do think college changed my life lol. I didn't have a good experience in high school or middle school and just in general and I left cities to go to my top choice for college.
I love them. They're so funny and so supportive.
Even though it's only been 1 year they have done so much for me than anyone. I just think about it because my birthday is coming soon and they started planning to do stuff for my birthday. I feel like I always had to beg people to hang out for my birthday. But they were there planning a party for me and planning to take me to dinner. I just hope our friendship lasts forever lol. Like idk I just really love my friends.
My son really wants a pug, but unfortunately, we can’t get a dog. So, as an illustrator, I decided to draw him playing pirates with his dream pug! He was so thrilled when he saw the drawing, and honestly, his smile made my day unforgettable 🗡️🐶✨

I'm a specialist instructor for a Fortune 500 and I coach our newer folks on how to be a public speaker. Today one of my prospective instructors, she made a career change from engineering, had her first live teach. And I really mean first, she's never done this before.
Unfortunately she made a mistake at first and started to flounder in front of her students. I was watching to see how she'd handle it and one of her students hopped off mute. She said that she remembered the first time she'd had to teach a class and how nervous she was, that it's okay if she need a moment to reset, and was so kind that immediately a bunch of other supportive messages popped up. She regained her footing and did great.
The ripple effect came because she was then in a meeting with her old Eng team and someone struggled. She used the same type of kindness and helped them get back on track. Her old manager thanking her and complimenting her on helping out. Now he and I are talking about offering some specialty training she can do to help that team. I'm incredibly happy that moment of kindness opened all sorts of doors.
So if you've never considered the ripple effect of a kindness there you go. Also a newly promoted instructor is now celebrating with her hubby

I will start by saying that I dont really feel happy bout this person's situation. Heres what happened..
This weekend, i was in another city. Walking downtown, I saw a homeless guy w a dog by his side. I asked him if he had enough food for the dog. He said, he has, but some more would help.
So I bought some dry dog food, picked up a sandwich for him, and went back to where he was. He was nowhere to be seen!
I was walking back to the store and saw another homeless guy w a dog. Asked him if he needed dog food. He said he has enough. Gave him a sandwich.
Then I went back to the store and asked if they could donate the dog food to a shelter.
Thats when I realized how hard these people's lives are, and in spite of nothing, they do love their fur friends so much!
I wish I could do more. Thats why I'm sad.. but happy that I helped someone in my own minuscule way. And grateful that life has been so generous to me 🙏
