I always hear drummers talking about serving the song but in all of my years of playing I've never actually heard anyone speak on a example of drums doing the opposite. Do you know any songs where either what or how the drummer played detracts from the song?

I’m not sure if Guitar Center made a mistake but when I saw that $99 I jumped on it!! Perfect condition, slight patina, no marks, nicks, etc. These usually go for $200 and up used!! I’ll clean her up soon. I’m happy! 😊🥁

Sticks, cymbals, heads, patches - if it's in any way perishable I just keep going through it faster than I'd wish. And I have no idea if any of it is my fault.
I have no idea if I'm an advanced beginner or intermediate or what to be honest. I've been playing for around 3 years averaging about 20h a week. I think I'm a fairly heavy hitter but how would I even truly know, right? I play heavy stuff, medium stuff, light stuff, I think I cover a lot of the dynamics spectrum. I rimshot a lot, I play on the rims quite regularly, I have no idea if I do glancing blows on the cymbals (I think? or maybe not?). I try to play some crazy kick patterns - doubles, really fast triplets/sextuplets into eights/sixteenths stuff. I do bury the beater a lot.
I use Promarks Rebound Firegrain 5B. They're not the cheapest but they seem to take my abuse the best from all the sticks I tested. And I tested a lot. And it's very rare that the tips wear out faster than the stick itself which is the case with a lot of sticks I've played. Still, I seem to be going through them a lot. I break one every week or two. But then I see some guy two threads over claiming to be using the same pair for the last 10 months. Which I personally don't believe but who knows. I dunno, the floor of my drum room looks like a friggin' sawmill. I actually need to clean wood chips out of my laptop's keyboard every day. Am I breaking a lot or is that fairly normal?
I got a set of somewhat budget cymbals a while ago - Istanbul Mehmet IMC Dark. After 2 years I cracked 3 out of 5 (hihat top and 18" and 20" crashes). When I was buying them I had no idea they were completely not for any heavier playing but it still kinda sucks. Maybe it's my bad technique but can you even hit the hihat wrong? Is it possible the cymbals are just not the sturdiest or is it definitely a technique issue?
I don't really break tom and snare heads. But in 2 years I went through two bass drum heads (EMAD and some Evans that came with my Tama kit) already. In the meantime I went through two other heads on rented kits. The other day I talked to a guy who said he changes his bass drum head every 3 years. And yes, I always used the protective stickers. When I had no money for new bass drum head I taped over the crack with some black tape and I think it somehow deformed the beater I was using - the hammery Tama one. It seems to be going through the stickers in a week now so I stopped using it. So apparently I go through beaters like crazy too. The white round beater on the photo - took me about a month to reach the plastic. What even is that material? I thought it was felt but there's white powder all around. Or maybe the Evans EQ patches are not sturdy? Kinda went for them because they looked like they are. Can you even use the bass pedal wrong? I mean I know burying the beater might not be optimal but I've also heard it's just one of techniques.
Am I wrecking stuff or the stuff is just supposed to get wrecked, huh?

I wanna learn to play songs by the Strokes or Paramore within like 1 year. I am going to start with a practice pad because it's cheap and move on when I need. How might I get there in that time frame? Reason why is because one of my junior friends likes Paramore and plays the guitar, and it would be fun to play with them if they go to my college. I can probably allocate 15 minutes each day like an hour on weekends.

And set it up as part of my kit. It’s three octaves. I’ll eventually build a stand with resonators. But for now, I want to see what I can do with this setup. I have a vocal looper pedal to use with some mics too.

Hello all.
I'm wondering if anyone might have a 14x14 or 18x18 floor tom for a Tama Starclassic in Birch / Bubinga that they'd be willing to sell?
It doesn't have to have chrome hardware, nor does it need to be MIJ. The finish is called Gold Crush Glitter. As far as I can tell it was first released in '07. I'm located in Australia but am happy to pay freight from anywhere in the world.
Thanks.

Had to learn an OG song by a famous death metal band. When I was playing it, I couldn’t feel anything but Dave Lombardo / Slayer. Do you hear it too?
What are some of your favorite Slayer songs?

Hi, I’m a beginner planning to buy my first drum set. I came across these 2 options and both are available at same price. I have read some reviews online but not sure. Can anyone recommend me what to get?
I hope I'm using the right terminology, specially in English. Apologies if not.
So far, every metronome I've found lets me accent the first beat. Some let me accent or mute any given beat in a bar, which is nice. But I haven't been able to find any that let's me accent -for example- the 3 AND on a 4/4. I really hope I'm explaining myself and not confusing the proper terms.
As a workaround, on the advanced metronomes I can set a custom time like 8/8 and treat every eight note as a beat, but it's a pity
