But the language is so full of food puns and battle/combat related terminology that it’s hard to follow. English is not my first language and I don’t know half the food that’s been talked about. This is my second attempt because I LOVE dimension20 and IH and Brennan.

I’m just venting here tbh but if anyone has any suggestions on what I can do please let me know.

Edit: Thanks everyone! I’m going to take all the advice and try to ignore some puns. But like someone said that feudal system is important to the plot, so I’ll try to learn that. Will be learning something new!

Some of you were also asking for example of puns and terms and that’s really sweet of you guys to offer to help. Ones that come to my mind rn are terms like Primogen, Chaplain, Cruller. But I’ll look them up haha.

Thank again everyone who responded, I’m motivated enough to give this a shot now.

I'm watching "A Symposium and a song" and cracked up when Darkness Man had to do a scar verse. I think he pulled out the theme song from Murder She Wrote, which was simultaneously random and so wholesome

Is this a preamble ?
We’ve had back to back mini seasons with the main cast
(I know the vampire masquerade season was like 13 episodes but where my 24 ish episode seasons at?)
My brain is like …. Does Brennan kill them all and open up a full season with a new cast taking on the darkness again years later? Maybe one survivor at the table ?
I’m emotionally invested even in a 6 episode season that is heavily driven by combat
The whole idea of toys at war with disease rats darkness is so cool I need more
I’m in the middle of watching episode 5 while cooking and I’m not good at multitasking so I’m backing up often 😂 but I feel strangely like this is too short for some reason ….
Any thoughts ?

I was watching a clip of neverafter moments and remembered how much I liked the Murph bit in the AP 8 trying to straight-man Ally DMing.

"WHAT! Can't she do a save?!"
"Can I do something? Can I use one of my abilities?"
"YOU CAN'T JUST BRING IN SPIDERS!!! Can any of us save???"

So, what bits do you guys like?

I just wanted to know what the situation was with filming Toylight-- Brennan mentioned something about how they'd be very tired, and why, but I can't find or recall what the caveat with this seasons filming was.

The main complaint I’ve heard about Toylight is that it’s sacrificed RP and getting to know the characters in favor of combat and strategy. Which is strange to me because Toylight is the first D20 season that feels like most of the tables I’ve played at. I love RP, but my friends prefer going from one fight scene to another with the plot mostly serving as connective tissue (like a FPS video game).

So I wonder if you’re more likely to enjoy Toylight if you’ve played a hack-and-slash campaign before.

It’s so good & catchy, I’d love a full version of it!!

I've been rewatching Neverafter alongside Toylight and I swear every time she tries to do something awesome her rolls are TERRIBLE. I want to know if it's because of the higher stakes on these campaigns making it feel worse, or Siobhan is truly cursed. It sometimes feels like she has the opposite of the Zac/Ally dichotomy where Ally's famous for rolling well but Zac has more Nat 20's, vs. Murph being known for rolling bad but I wonder if Siobhan genuinely has worse luck.

I've started doing a massive re-watch of all the IH seasons, and revisiting my favorite characters from each of the main cast. I know I have some weird faves, and also, I've cheated by including main cast roles in non-IH seasons, but this is my list:

Siobhan: Riva from Starstruck

Emily: Lady Chirp Featherfowl from ACOFAF

Murph: Cody from Unsleeping City

Ally: Margaret Encino from Starstruck (runner-up, Liam from Crown of Candy)

Lou: A tie between Lord Squak Airavis from ACOFAF and Fabian from Fantasy High

Zac: Literally any. Any one of his roles. I love everything he does. But also, Norman "Skip"Takamori. Also Lapin. But literally all.

What is your list?

I got some suggestions from here last time, who should I draw next?

God damn Brennan.

I just started A Starstruck Odyssey based on how many people here absolutely love the season and I love the intrepid heroes, so why not? I am halfway through episode 2 and I have to say, the way people are reacting to Norman basically being taken over by an alien is a bit alarming. It feels like they all are just OK with him being taken over just because he was/is an asshole?

He was still a living breathing being with free will and a consciousness that is basically now being forced against his will to act and do things in whatever way that Zac's alien wants him. I assume that Norman, the man, is still in there somewhere, in which case, it's like if in Cyberpunk 2077, you were to immediately start cheering for Silverhand's construct to take over V's body just because you like rockstars better, without a care for V's own humanity. If Norman is actually dead and the alien has taken over then I guess it's still a moral question, especially if the alien was the murderer.

Maybe it's just me, but IDK. It sheds a bad light on the whole crew's characters, who are basically taking advantage of the opportunity.

I'll keep watching, hopefully this gets addressed at some point.

Edit: Gotcha - thanks everyone! o7

I'm watching Toylight Episode 3 and Lou made an offhand comment about Emily's flamethrower, saying something about "what's going on in 2024?". I cannot for the life of me get this out of my brain, and my braincells must know.

Does he mean that the version of game they're using is like. A 2024 ruleset? Because they can't possibly have filmed this in 2024.... right? Right??

Ok so at the end of the first season of Unsleeping City, the intrepid heroes fight a 'corruption' of the American Dream, that it's meant to be evermorphing and individual whereas the bad guy wants the American dream to be static, controlled and Brennan goes on an impassioned speech about what it has meant to people...

...which is great but in these last few years that American Dream is well and truly dead, it has been dead for a while.

"Anyone can make it in America, work hard, get a job, buy house, have a family, support that family, retire and live comfortably, you can claw your way up from nothing into something" was a dream, it was an achievable dream back in the 80s and 90s, even the early 00s but in this day and age? Even when it was made 7 years ago it still...I don't know..feel hollow?

If anything the prolonged myth of the American Dream has caused the problems you guys are in right now. The failure of the American Dream is what has driven young, white men into being angry that they've not gotten what they've been told their owed, A wife, a house, a good salary, free time to do the hobbies they want when not working etc.

The American Dream needs to die not just be kept what it is, it's needs to be struck down, exposed for the lie it sells, the lie it probably always has sold...

So I've been watching for a while, but I'm suddenly without a season after this episode of Toylight and I know I have a LOT to catch up on.

I'm torn between A Starstruck Oddysee and Never after... Which one should I go for? Thus far, the only season I DNF was Burrow's End (I don't know why, just couldn't get into it).

I highly recommend reading The Stuff of Legend. No idea if anyone behind this season read it, but it's got a similar premise and is damn near a dead match for the tone. It's unfortunately unclear when the series will be finished but there are five volumes already published. If you're looking to add to your reading list, slap this series on there!

I posted a few weeks ago about being excited for an upcoming in-person DnD Weekend where we were going to be playing a monster hunting campaign in the Calorum world setting. Well, we all headed home on Monday after three days of relaxing, board games and DnD and I am still currently riding that high. Getting away to a cabin in the Catskills for a long weekend is already a nice reprieve from the stresses of life, but also getting to sit and play roughly 24 hours of DnD is a joy that I desperately wish I could get more of in my life. I was already very excited to present everyone with the custom minis of their characters, but seeing how well they turned out once painted had me marveling at them over my DM screen amidst all of the chaos of the encounters.

I’d highly recommend gathering up a group of friends and running your very own Calorum themed campaign. It’s a joy that has to be experienced to be understood.

I'm watching city council of darkness right now and really enjoying it. I'm interested in getting into vampire the Masquerade and maybe running my own game. I know they are playing a modified version of the system but I could not find out which edition it's closest too. Any recomendations for which edition of the game to play and maybe even for introductory adventures?

I know that it’s an absolute favourite but I can’t get into it I don’t know why. I love all the other campaigns that I watched (still working on the catalog but for now 5/5 no notes).
At first I thought that I was just a bit burned out after watching so many seasons in a row but after a break I tried again and still not my jam. I started neverafter just after that and I immediately loved it.
So my question is: is there anyone who had issues with the season but ended loving it and which episode made you change your mind?
It might just not be my thing but I don’t know what I specifically don’t like though so it’s frustrating to not be able to name a reason and see everyone putting it number 1. Also I usually love sci-fi and I find the universe great, so I don’t think it’s that.
Thank you!

I hope this counts as on topic? 😅

Was watching fantasy high with my hammy sleeping in my robe, he came out to explore when he was done cuddling and spent a good amount of time clambering over my keyboard while we watched together

In a Crown of Candy there was art beyond character Illustrations but now I cant seem to find it. In particular there was a great image of Amathar holding Jets body, but I would welcome any that appeared in the series.
