Turn in old unused prescriptions for safe disposal. Check the website for additional locations.

Some of them will also take things like expired inhalers and epipens, check with individual departments if they accept those.

If you can't make that day, you can use this webpage to find year round disposal sites.

  • If you’re looking for a fun excuse to eat out or try a few new spots downtown, there are still 2 weeks left to grab CityCenter Danbury's Tastes of Danbury pass before it wraps up on October 31st.

It’s basically a self-guided mini food tour through downtown Danbury that saves you a ton compared to ordering off the menu normally, while giving you a great mix of flavors:

Your $35 pass gets you one complete meal at each of these 4 local spots:

  • Empire of the Incas (241 Main St) – Authentic Peruvian dishes and Latin specialties.
  • Los Rivera Cafe (1 Ives St) – Traditional Latin cafe fare, specialty coffee, and bakery treats.
  • Xay’s Kitchen (35 White St) – Flavorful, authentic Laotian and Southeast Asian comfort food.
  • Muncheez Food Truck (330 Main St) – Fast-casual gourmet street food.

Why It’s Such a Great Experience

  • Go at Your Own Pace: You don't have to visit every spot in one day. You have until October 31st to space them out for quick weekday lunches or weekend dinners with friends.
  • Dine-In or To-Go: Works whether you want to sit down and soak in the atmosphere or grab a fast pick-up on your way home.
  • Support Local Business: It’s a low-risk, affordable way to explore new downtown spots and support independent owners on Main, White, and Ives Streets.

Pass Details & Tickets

Passes are $35 and available directly through CityCenter Danbury: CityCenter Danbury - Tastes of Danbury

Rooftop farm in LIC with an indoor classroom available for workshops and events (rentals support a Queens youth nonprofit)

Hi all! I work at the Variety Boys & Girls Club of Queens and wanted to share something that might be useful if you run workshops, classes, team events, weddings, and more!

We run Sky Farm LIC, a one-acre rooftop farm in Long Island City, and we rent out the space for private events.

Year-round (including winter):

  • Bright indoor classroom with big windows
  • Seats 30–45, with a long table, chairs, and a small kitchen
  • Great for workshops, classes, meetings, and small gatherings

Spring and summer on the roof:

  • Flower and vegetable fields
  • Views of four of the five boroughs
  • A 40-foot farm table and several seating areas
  • Wash pack indoor station to store food, supplies, along with a walk-in fridge

Every rental helps fund free programs for Queens kids, including free workshops and fresh produce we give away to the community each year.

If you’re planning something this winter, or want to lock in spring dates on the roof, feel free to comment or DM me, and I’m happy to share details. In the meantime, check the links below!

Danbury Buildings in Watercolor, Set 3 (+1 & 2)

Part of my series of paintings dedicated to notable places in Danbury. In the first 2 sets, I sketched and painted mostly historic buildings. I'm starting to add some restaurants/food establishments to the series.

Also included are the two other sets of buildings I posted previously. I'm currently working on a 4th set, starting with Westconn's Fairfield Hall. I'll be adding a few more restaurants (Rosy Tomorrow's, Molly Darcy's) and I think I want to add the gold-dome church on Deer Hill Rd. I plan to combine all of these into poster and maybe a tote bag or something. Let me know if there's any buildings you think deserve inclusion. Thanks for checking out my art!

ACTORS NEEDED! Short Film shooting in Newtown, CT

I'm casting for an NYU Tisch short film called "Retreat" that shoots in Newtown, CT! You would only need to be on set on October 18. The roles are unpaid, but a meal and crafty will be provided!

Here's the primary role we need that has some lines:

HARRY - Male, mid-30s drama director, pretentious

(^^If you're looking for some beautiful footage to get on your reel, this is a great opportunity)

We also need some extras to watch an "outdoor theater production" in the world of the play!

Here's the logline for the film:

An actors' retreat in the woods takes a dark turn when Frankie's insecurities begin to blur reality and the play.

The set is at a beautiful campground. Whether you want to play Harry or an extra, if you want to meet some filmmakers/actors, vibe, and get some free food, DM me and I can send you more details!

Construction at Newtown Rd?

I went to Chamomile today and saw machines working on the empty lot next to Chamomile's parking lot, as well as just across Newtown Rd.

Does anyone know what will be built in both places?
