Easiest clubs/activities to get involved for nervous solo!?
Hello!
I'm posting on behalf of someone else who has been at CU for a few years who is really struggling with how hard it is to meet people. She's very quiet outwardly, but really social once she opens up, she's a foreign student, doesn't drink or really engage in stereotypical college party life and has found it really tough!
She really needs either groups that do things regularly, even just something super casual, or people to go to a coffee shop with, study together and just not feel alone all the time?
She has tried to join some groups but as I'm sure you all will understand, for people who aren't super extroverted or have someone to tag along with, it can be very intimidating just approaching an existing social group and joining alone etc.
I'm not from CU and don't have access to the resources so I really can't figure out what there is to offer.
Any advice and support would be greatly appreciated ❤️🙏

How expensive is bear creek?
Looking for housing next year and I’m realizing that bear creek might be worth it at only around 10k for the entire year. However, I’m not sure how much extra I would have to pay for things like a meal plan and other costs. Including all those additional costs, does anyone know the cost of living at bear creek in a 4 bed 2 bath with single rooms?

Transfer finding roommates
I am transferring to CU in the spring as a junior. I’ve been looking at apartments and since the market is pricier than I thought. I’m thinking about finding a roommate. Coming in later to school like this especially during the spring term, what is the best way to find a good like-minded roommate?

Boulder Acceptance Deadline?
Hello,
I recently got accepted as a transfer for the spring semester. Is there a deadline for when I need to accept my offer and submit the enrollment deposit? Boulder's website says it varies for transfer apps, so I'm wondering if anyone has had the same question here. I beleive some decisions don't get let out until early december, so I feel like I have time, but I want to make sure.
thanks

Theoretical health and safety check Question.
so- and this is totally theoretical- if my friend didn’t realize there was a specification for electronics, requiring they are UL approved… and may have bought an electric kettle for fun and found it was not UL approved but instead is cETL approved which is equivalent to a UL certification should they or should they not remove it from their dorm…..
like would an RSL be able to accept that as an alternative to UL approved or nah?

How successful are appeals for in-state tuition
Originally was denied for a cosigned loan with a non-parent relative. Appealing it off of ground 2 : assigning disproportionate weight to a singular factor.
Looking to see if anybody else has had success in having an appeal overturn?

How hard is it for Physics in CAS?
I’ve seen people online with stats twice as good as mine get rejected from the Engineering school ,so I'm trying to figure out what my realistic chances are for the pure Physics program in the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS). Will my 1300 SAT (730 Math / 570 RW) and an 8.7/10 GPA be enough to get in?

Spring 2027 Transfer update?
I applied for spring 2027 transfer on August 21st, and I'm still waiting to hear back on a decision. Does anyone know when I should hear back? Also, does anyone know if I will get in? I got in last semester, but I declined instead of deferring. I have a 3.8 GPA. Just not trying to get my hopes up because I really want to go. I'm applying for environmental design in architecture.

UK visiting for a week
Hello!
My wife is at a conference for a few days here, looking for recommendations for us both and for myself over the next few days
Also, where is best for a good drink and socialising? Everywhere we’ve been so far has been more restaurant vibes. We’re in our late 20’s FYI.
Thank you!

Can I live in Boulder on a PhD stipend and still pay $800/month in loans?
Hey everyone!
I'm planning to apply for a PhD at CU Boulder as an international student.
I'm curious about how much PhD students usually get paid. Is the stipend enough to live comfortably in Boulder?
My main concern is that I have loans in my home country, and I need to pay around $800 every month. Would it be possible to cover my living costs and still make these payments?
If the stipend isn't enough, are there any options to earn extra money? For example, part-time jobs on campus or freelance work?
Btw I am international student. I'd love to hear from current PhD students, especially international students. Thanks!

Looking for someone to sublet my apartment Spring 2028 (1-4 bedrooms)
I know it is early still, but all 4 of us in our apartment on the Hill will be studying abroad Spring 2028. We’d love to re-sign our lease for next year so we can stay here next fall. But the landlord only allows year long leases (subletting is approved). Apartment is huge, 4bed/4bath, in excellent shape and incredibly close to campus.

How do you like the psychology program?
I'm currently in my freshman year at another college, but plan on transferring schools at the end of the year. CU Boulder is one of my top picks. How do y'all like the Psychology program? I plan on getting my BA here, and then moving back to my home state for my post-grad education, so I would appreciate under-grad insight.
Thank you!!!

Does being sent NSLS invites mean anything or are they just handing them out like candy?
I get these letters every year. It’s not worth it to me to join, I’ve heard a lot about their scammy nature. But I have to wonder at this point why I’m still getting them, as it’s becoming increasingly ironic considering how terrible I feel about my performance a student now. I haven’t managed to get an A for an overall class in so long. I’m in one of those hard degree programs that makes your grades feel like they’ve become complete garbage.
Nowadays I kinda see myself as one of the “loser” students with particularly bad work in most of my classes, though, so why would I be getting these anymore? Who’s deciding? Is it actually as exclusive as they say, or does being sent these no longer have any reflection whatsoever on how you rank as a student? I’m confused. In the same week I get this letter and the jumpscare of an unexpected 60 on a big project.

Transferring to CU Boulder Fall 2027 — Housing, Roommates, and Making Friends?
Hi everyone! I’m planning to transfer to CU Boulder in Fall 2027 as a sophomore, and I have a few concerns about housing and the social aspect of transferring.
I know housing in Boulder can be competitive and that students typically start looking for apartments pretty early. However, I’m hesitant to seriously look into housing or commit to anything until I know whether I’ve been accepted.
I’m also unsure how to go about finding roommates, especially since I won’t already know many people at CU.
Another concern I have is making friends. Since I won’t be attending as a freshman or living in the dorms, I’m worried it might be harder to meet people and form friendships when other students have already had a year to establish their social circles.
For anyone who has transferred to CU Boulder:
When did you start looking for housing, and how did you navigate that before getting accepted?
How did you find roommates?
Was it difficult to make friends as a transfer student, especially while living off campus?
Do you have any advice or anything you wish you’d known before transferring?
I’d really appreciate any advice or personal experiences!

Staff: How long did it take for you to hear back and receive an offer after a final interview?
Hello,
I interviewed for a position early last week and was told during the interview that I would hear back by the end of the week. Naturally, the end of the [business] week has passed and am wondering if receiving a post-final-interview update can often take longer than a week with the CU Boulder staff hiring process, or if my better judgement and instinct are still losing out to my irrational hope.
Any detailed insight on the hiring process in general would also be greatly appreciated.
Edit: I also understand that their may be great variance between departments and their hiring timelines, but I'm just looking for some general experiences to extrapolate from.
