Week 8 of the 2026 CFB Deep Cuts Beta season is here!

We've got five new college football questions, and it's time to see who can find the answers everyone else overlooks.

After a wild Week 7, I'm excited to see what happens next!

🏆 Last Week: A Tie for First!

Congratulations again to GarbageMan22 and fleeingpepper, who tied for the Week 7 victory with just 10 points each!

Both players finished with three correct answers and three Lone Wolves, and both earned postseason berths!

Week 7 also gave us:

• 🐺 29 Lone Wolves across 15 participants.
• 🎯 Only 2 of 19 players correctly identified Texas State as the week's highest-scoring team.
• 😳 199 correct answer opportunities that nobody selected.
• 🏈 51 different players who have participated in our inaugural Beta season through Week 7.

It's another reminder that you don't necessarily need to get all five questions right to win. Finding unpopular correct answers can make all the difference!

🎯 Week 8 — Time to Make Your Picks!

Play here:

https://cfbdeepcuts.replit.app

If you're returning, sign in and head to Participant Mode → Play.

If you're new, welcome! Here's how it works:

1. Sign in with Google and create your public username.
2. Answer five college football questions.
3. Try to find a correct answer that as few other players as possible will choose.
4. Review your picks and submit all five before the deadline.

Lower scores win!

A correct answer selected by only one participant is a Lone Wolf, worth just 1 point.

But if you get an answer wrong, you'll receive a penalty based on the other players' correct selections.

The challenge isn't just knowing college football. It's figuring out what everyone else might overlook.

🏆 The Postseason Race Continues

Every week is another opportunity to compete for a weekly victory and earn a postseason berth.

And if you haven't played yet, it's not too late to join!

New participants can jump into the Beta season at any point.

🧪 Help Us Keep Improving

CFB Deep Cuts is still in its inaugural Beta season, and your feedback is incredibly valuable.

If something is confusing, a question doesn't seem right, or you encounter a bug, please let me know here in the subreddit.

And remember: try not to reveal your selections before the contest closes! 👀

⏰ Weekly Schedule

New questions are scheduled to open Wednesdays at 3:00 PM Central.

Make sure to submit your picks before the contest deadline shown in the app.

☕ Want to Support CFB Deep Cuts?

CFB Deep Cuts is a passion project, and keeping it running comes with hosting and development costs.

If you're enjoying the game and would like to help support its continued development, I've set up two completely optional ways to contribute:

☕ Ko-fi: https://ko-fi.com/cfbdeepcuts

🏈 GoFundMe: https://gofund.me/b95bae0f3

Supporting the game is never required and has absolutely no effect on gameplay, scoring, or competitive advantages.

Playing, sharing the game with friends, and giving feedback are already fantastic ways to support the project!

🏈 Good Luck in Week 8!

Can GarbageMan22 or fleeingpepper repeat? Will Flavojako bounce back after that perfect Week 6 performance? Or will someone new take the top spot?

Let's see who can find this week's deepest cuts.

Be right. Be unpopular. Lowest score wins.

Week 7 is officially FINAL, and we have TWO winners!

Congratulations to GarbageMan22 and fleeingpepper, who tied for first with just 10 points each! 🏆

Both players also earned postseason berths!

And this was one of our more unusual weeks. Nobody went 4-for-5 or 5-for-5, Question 1 produced only TWO correct submissions, and there were some spectacular performances that the entire field overlooked.

🏆 Week 7 Leaderboard

The two winners had identical question-by-question scores:

3 + 1 + 4 + 1 + 1 = 10

Three Lone Wolves each, and a six-point cushion over third place!

😳 Question 1: Only TWO People Got It Right

Name a team that will finish among the 1 highest point totals in Week 7.

This was an unusually difficult question because there could be only one highest-scoring team, barring a tie.

And that team was...

Texas State!

The Bobcats put up 66 points against Colorado State in a 66–27 victory.

Only Bernbp5 and TheJoshster correctly selected Texas State.

That's 2 out of 19 participants, or just 10.5%.

Interestingly, incorrect answers cost only 3 points, while the two correct selections cost 2 points each. So despite being the hardest question by percentage correct, it wasn't the most punishing!

I made a mistake submitting this question for week 7 play!

🤔 Why Was the Question 1 Penalty Only 3 Points?

You might have noticed something strange about Question 1. Only 2 of 19 players correctly picked Texas State as the week's highest-scoring team, yet everyone who got it wrong received just 3 points.

Here's why!

In CFB Deep Cuts, the penalty for an incorrect answer is calculated by adding:

• The number of players who selected the most popular correct answer.
• The number of different correct answers selected by participants.

For Question 1, Texas State was the only correct answer, and two players selected it.

That means:

2 players picked Texas State + 1 distinct correct answer = 3-point penalty.

So even though Question 1 was extremely difficult, getting it right earned 2 points, while getting it wrong cost only 3 points—a difference of just one point!

It's an interesting quirk of how our scoring system works when a question has only one possible correct answer. Usually, there are many different ways to be right, which creates a much bigger difference between correct and incorrect scores.

The takeaway: Question 1 was one of the hardest questions to answer correctly, but surprisingly, it was also one of the least punishing to get wrong!

🐺 29 Lone Wolves!

Week 7 produced 29 correct answers selected by exactly one participant, spread across 15 different players.

Some of my favorites:

• fleeingpepper: Drew Mestemaker, Oklahoma State — 365 passing yards and 3 TDs.
• GarbageMan22: Devon Dampier, Utah — 278 passing yards and 3 TDs.
• Flavojako: Ethan Grunkemeyer, Virginia Tech — exactly 250 passing yards and 3 TDs.
• EagleZipperHero: Umari Hatcher, Syracuse — receiving TD in a loss.
• TheJoshster: Reed Harris, Arizona State — receiving TD in a loss.
• fleeingpepper: John Mateer, Oklahoma — 3 interceptions thrown.

Every one of those picks was worth just 1 point.

🔍 What the Field Missed

There were 199 correct eligible answers across the five questions that nobody selected.

And some of these were enormous performances.

Question 2 — 250+ passing yards AND 2+ passing TDs

Nobody selected:

• Michael Hawkins Jr., West Virginia: 464 yards, 3 TDs.
• Conner Weigman, Houston: 343 yards, FIVE TDs.
• JC French IV, Cincinnati: 389 yards, 3 TDs.

Hawkins and French combined for 853 passing yards in West Virginia's 45–42 victory over Cincinnati, yet neither received a selection!

Question 3 — Receiving TD in a losing effort

Nobody selected:

• Duce Robinson, Florida State: 2 receiving TDs in a loss to Miami.
• Maguire Anderson, FIU: 2 receiving TDs in a three-point loss.
• Jordan Collins, Navy: 2 receiving TDs in a four-point loss.

Question 5 — Throw at least one interception

Nobody selected:

• Brayden Roggow, Akron: FOUR interceptions.
• Elijah Brown, Washington: 3 interceptions.
• Rocco Becht, Penn State: 2 interceptions.

All correct answers, all available, and all completely untouched.

These weren't actual Lone Wolves because nobody picked them. But they show just how many possible one-point opportunities were out there.

😬 The Painful Near-Misses

A few picks came incredibly close to qualifying.

Kevin Jennings, SMU: Needed 250 passing yards and 2 TDs. Finished with 246 yards and 2 TDs.

Four yards short. 10 points.

Davis Warren, Stanford: Had 279 passing yards but only ONE passing TD.

One touchdown short. 10 points.

TCU: Needed a game decided by no more than 10 points. Beat Baylor 17–6.

An 11-point margin. 12 points.

And then there's KJ Duff, Rutgers.

Three players selected Duff to score a receiving TD in a game his team lost.

He scored TWO receiving touchdowns!

Unfortunately, Rutgers won 37–30, making all three selections incorrect.

Sometimes even a great performance isn't enough when the question has multiple conditions.

📊 Week 7 By the Numbers

• 19 participants
• 95 total submitted answers
• 39 correct selections
• 56 incorrect selections
• 41.1% overall accuracy
• 29 Lone Wolves
• 15 participants earned at least one Lone Wolf
• 199 unselected correct answer opportunities
• 22.7 average score
• 10 winning score

We now have 51 different participants who have played at least one week during the 2026 Beta season!

🏈 On to Week 8!

Week 7 was a reminder of what makes CFB Deep Cuts so unpredictable.

You can find an obscure player who does exactly what you need, miss a requirement by four yards, or pick a great performance that fails because the team actually WON.

And sometimes, two players take completely different paths to the exact same winning score.

Thanks to everyone who played Week 7!

Play CFB Deep Cuts: https://cfbdeepcuts.replit.app

New questions are scheduled for Wednesday at 3 PM Central.

New players are always welcome, even if you've missed the previous weeks.

Be right. Be unpopular. Lowest score wins.

Little delay - working on some app efficiencies that are slowing down (ironically) the scoring process this week.

Thanks!

Week 7 of the CFB Deep Cuts 2026 Beta season is ready to play!

Five new questions. Five new chances to find the correct answer nobody else thinks of.

And after what happened last week, the bar has officially been raised.

🏆 Last Week: A Perfect 5-for-5!

Congratulations again to Flavojako, who won Week 6 with an incredible 9-point score!

Flavojako became the first player this season to get all five questions correct.

The top finishers were:

🥇 Flavojako — 9 (5/5)

🥈 gbp_3200 — 13 (4/5)

🥉 Host and Major — 14 (4/5)

Last week also showed just how difficult this game can be.

Nate Sheppard rushed for 99 yards and two touchdowns, missing the 100-yard requirement by just one yard.

Meanwhile, Jackson Gutierrez had 232 rushing yards and three touchdowns, but nobody selected him for either of the two questions he qualified for!

🎯 Come Play Week 7!

Play here:

https://cfbdeepcuts.replit.app

The strategy is simple:

Be right. Be unpopular. Lowest score wins.

Correct answers score based on how many people selected them. Find a correct answer nobody else picked, and you've got yourself a 1-point Lone Wolf.

Get it wrong, though, and things can get painful quickly.

📈 Let's Keep Growing the Field

We had 21 players in Week 6, up from 19 in Week 5.

I'd love to see more players return for Week 7—and welcome some new faces too!

Never played before? You can still join!

You don't need to have played any previous week to start. Just jump in, make your picks, and see how you stack up.

And if you're already playing, invite another college football fan. The bigger the field, the more interesting the strategy becomes.

🧪 The Beta Continues

2026 is still the first CFB Deep Cuts Beta season, and I'm continuing to improve the game as we go.

If you encounter a bug, something is confusing, or you have an idea for making the game better, please let me know.

Your feedback is genuinely helping shape the game.

And one reminder:

⏰ Weekly Schedule

New questions are scheduled to open Wednesdays at 3:00 PM Central.

That gives me a little extra time each week to work through any issues before the contest opens.

CFB Deep Cuts is a passion project, and support is completely optional.

Supporting the game has no impact on gameplay. Playing, giving feedback, and spreading the word are already huge ways to help.

Good luck in Week 7!

Can anyone match Flavojako's perfect 5-for-5? Or will someone find five Lone Wolves and put up an even more ridiculous score?

Be right. Be unpopular. Find those Deep Cuts.

Week 6 is officially in the books, and we have our first perfect entry of the season!

Congratulations to Flavojako, who went 5-for-5 and won Week 6 with an incredible score of 9 points!

Five questions. Five correct answers. Single-digit score.

That's how you play Deep Cuts.

🏆 Week 6 Top Finishers

🥇 Flavojako — 9 (5/5)

🥈 gbp_3200 — 13 (4/5)

🥉 Host — 14 (4/5)

🥉 Major — 14 (4/5)

T5 — Cfbdeepcuts2 — 15 (4/5)

T5 — JStay — 15 (4/5)

Only four points separated first and second, and six players finished within the top five ranks.

Flavojako's winning answers were:

• Q1: Michael Hawkins Jr. — 1 point
• Q2: Wyatt Young — 1 point
• Q3: Dru DeShields — 2 points
• Q4: DeSean Bishop — 3 points
• Q5: LSU at Kentucky — 2 points

Not every answer was a Lone Wolf. But every answer was correct.

And sometimes avoiding a wrong-answer penalty is more important than finding the most obscure player on the board.

📊 Week 6 by the Numbers

21 players submitted all five answers this week.
60 correct (57.1%)
Average score: 28
Median score: 26
Winning score: 9

We also climbed back above 20 participants after Week 5's 19-player field. Thanks to everyone who played!

👀 What the Field Missed — Week 6 Edition

This is the new part of the recap I've been looking forward to.

I'm going to highlight correct answers that nobody selected, especially monster performances, surprising results, and players who barely met or missed a requirement.

All of these overlooked answers were available in the week's eligible answer choices.

Q1 — At Least 15 Rushing Attempts

15 of 21 players got this one right.

Fame Ijeboi was the most popular correct answer with 31 carries, selected by three players for 3 points each.

But check out what nobody picked:

🐺 Jackson Gutierrez (Navy) — 41 rushing attempts

🐺 Cale Hellums (Army) — 38 rushing attempts

🐺 Jamal Roberts (Missouri) — 32 rushing attempts

All three were correct, eligible answers that received zero selections.

Meanwhile, Angel Flores, Jabari Bates, and Wayshawn Parker each finished with exactly 16 carries, just one above the requirement. All three were selected once and earned 1 point.

There were 61 correct eligible answers nobody selected on Q1 alone.

Q2 — Score a Receiving Touchdown

14 of 21 players were correct.

Jesse Legree caught three receiving touchdowns for Oregon State, but three players selected him, making him a 3-point answer.

Now here's what everybody overlooked:

Patrick Overmyer (Houston) — FOUR receiving touchdowns. Four!

And not a single player selected him.

Also overlooked:

• Adam Parks (Western Michigan) — 2 receiving TDs
• DJ Vonnahme (Iowa) — 2 receiving TDs

There were 144 correct eligible receivers that nobody picked.

That's a lot of potential one-point answers sitting untouched.

Q3 — Pass for 125+ Yards AND Lose

This was the hardest question of the week.

Only 7 of 21 players got it right.

And it produced some spectacular mistakes.

John Mateer (Oklahoma) threw for 155 yards. Enough passing yards!

Except Oklahoma beat Texas 27–24.

Three players selected Mateer. All three took the 8-point penalty.

Kenny Minchey (Kentucky) threw for 246 yards.

Also enough!

But Kentucky beat LSU 35–34.

Two more incorrect picks.

Now look at the quarterbacks nobody selected:

Trey Owens (Arkansas State) — 418 passing yards, lost 56–49 to South Alabama.

Max Johnson (Georgia Southern) — 343 passing yards, lost 27–24 to James Madison.

43 correct eligible answers went completely overlooked on Q3.

Q4 — Rush for 100+ Yards AND Score a Rushing TD

This one hurt.

Only 9 of 21 players got it right.

And the most painful miss?

Nate Sheppard (Duke): 99 rushing yards and TWO rushing touchdowns.

The requirement was 100 yards.

He missed by one single yard.

His selector took 10 points.

Meanwhile, two players barely made it:

King Miller (USC) — 102 yards, 1 TD

Wayne Knight (UCLA) — 103 yards, 1 TD

Both were correct Lone Wolves worth 1 point.

And then there's what nobody picked:

Isaac Brown (Louisville) — 235 rushing yards, 2 TDs

Jackson Gutierrez (Navy) — 232 rushing yards, 3 TDs

Kamari Moulton (Iowa) — 208 rushing yards, 2 TDs

Three enormous rushing performances.

Zero selections.

And Jackson Gutierrez was overlooked on both Q1 and Q4 despite his 41 carries, 232 yards, and three rushing touchdowns.

Q5 — Both Teams Score at Least 15 Points

15 of 21 players got this one right.

But Q5 gave us some of the most painful results of the entire week.

Oregon State 66, San Diego State 14.

That's 80 combined points.

Sounds like a great answer, right?

Wrong. San Diego State scored 14.

One point short. The player who selected it took 15 points.

And it wasn't the only one.

Wake Forest 38, NC State 14.

Two players picked that game.

Both took 15 points.

Meanwhile:

UCLA 17, Oregon 15 was a correct answer worth just 1 point. Oregon scored exactly enough.

22 correct games went completely untouched.

That's the beauty and frustration of this game.

An 80-point game can be wrong, while a 32-point game can be perfect.

🏆 Complete Week 6 Leaderboard

The report confirms these top finishers. The complete 21-player leaderboard wasn't included in the supplied research package, so I'm not inventing the remaining placements.

🏈 Week 7 Is Next!

Week 6 gave us a perfect entry, some spectacular missed opportunities, and multiple players losing out because of a single yard or point.

And that's exactly why I love this game.

Week 7 questions are scheduled to open Wednesday at 3:00 PM Central.

Week 6 weather / hurricane note

With the hurricane potentially affecting some of this weekend’s games, I want to clarify how CFB Deep Cuts will handle any cancellations or postponements.

If you select an answer tied to a game that is cancelled, or a game that is postponed into a different CFB Deep Cuts week, that answer will be scored as incorrect.

So please keep the weather situation in mind when making your picks this week. If you're choosing an answer from a game that looks like it could be affected, you're taking on the risk that the game may not be played within Week 6.

I don't want anyone caught off guard by that after the weekend, so I'm putting the clarification here before games begin.

Good luck with your Week 6 picks — and hopefully everyone in the path of the storm stays safe.

🏆 Last Week: A One-Point Finish

Week 5 came down to the smallest possible margin.

🥇 EagleZipperHero — 12 points
🥈 GarbageMan22 — 13 points

Both went 4-for-5.

They even had identical scores on Q2 through Q5.

The difference?

EagleZipperHero found a 1-point answer on Q1 while GarbageMan22's correct answer was worth 2.

That's Deep Cuts in a nutshell.

One extra person choosing your answer can be the difference between first and second.

🐺 Find Something Nobody Else Does

Week 5 had 24 Lone Wolves spread across 17 different players.

That's a correct answer found by exactly one person — and a beautiful 1-point score.

But we also discovered just how many good answers the entire field overlooked.

So when you're making your Week 6 picks, remember:

The obvious answer might be right.

But somewhere down that list might be something much better. 👀

📈 Let's Grow the Field!

We've now had 50 different players participate in CFB Deep Cuts this season.

Weekly turnout:

Week 0 — 15
Week 1 — 30
Week 2 — 24
Week 3 — 23
Week 4 — 27
Week 5 — 19

Let's get back over 20 players for Week 6.

If you've played before but missed a week, come back!

If you've been lurking, this is a great week to jump in.

And if you've been playing every week, bring another college football sicko with you. More players means more strategy, more ridiculous Lone Wolves, and more opportunities to watch everyone pile onto the same answer while you quietly find something better.

🧪 Still a Beta — Keep the Feedback Coming

2026 is the inaugural CFB Deep Cuts Beta season, and I'm continuing to improve the game as we play it.

If something breaks, looks wrong, is confusing, or just makes you think "why the hell does this work this way?" — tell me.

And remember:

Don't post your picks while everyone else is still making theirs. 👀

Week 5 is officially in the books, and one point decided the winner.

Congratulations to EagleZipperHero, your Week 5 champion with a score of 12!

Right behind was GarbageMan22 at 13.

And the difference between them?

One point on one question.

🏆 Week 5 Top 5

🥇 EagleZipperHero — 12 (4/5)
🥈 GarbageMan22 — 13 (4/5)
🥉 fleeingpepper — 16 (3/5)
🥉 jo_mama — 16 (3/5)
5️⃣ Dan20698 — 17 (3/5)

EagleZipperHero and GarbageMan22 scored exactly the same on Q2 through Q5.

The difference was Q1.

EagleZipperHero took Central Michigan for 1 point.

GarbageMan22 took Kansas for 2.

That's it. That's the winning margin.

EagleZipperHero also earns Week 5's weekly qualification spot. Congratulations!

📊 Week 5 by the Numbers

We had 19 players this week, with all 19 completing their entries for 95 total scored answers.

The field went 42-for-95 overall (44.2%).

Average score: 22.58
Median score: 21
Winning score: 12
Lone Wolves: 24
Best record: 4/5

Nobody went 5-for-5.

And starting this week, I'm adding something new to these recaps:

What Did We ALL Miss?

Until now, I've mostly talked about the answers we actually picked.

But that's only half the fun.

The game freezes a pool of eligible answers before we play. After the games are over, we can see not only which of our selections were correct, but also which correct answers were sitting there waiting for us that nobody chose at all.

So from now on, I'm going to include some of the answers the entire field overlooked.

And Week 5 gave us plenty.

Across the five questions, there were 97 question-specific correct answers that not a single player selected.

Let's get into it.

Q1 — Pick a Team to Win

This was the layup.

17 of 19 players were correct — 89.5%.

There were 59 eligible teams that ultimately won, and we collectively found 14 of them.

That means there were an absurd 45 winning teams nobody touched.

The huge number of available answers also meant there was plenty of room to separate yourself: Q1 produced a pile of 1-point answers.

And this is where Week 5 was ultimately decided.

EagleZipperHero: Central Michigan — 1 point
GarbageMan22: Kansas — 2 points

Their scores were identical on every other question.

One extra person choosing Kansas decided Week 5.

The two players who missed Q1 weren't nearly as fortunate: the wrong-answer penalty was 16 points.

Q2 — Find One of the 15 Highest-Scoring Games

Things got considerably uglier here.

Only 6 of 19 players were correct.

And here's our first great What the Field Missed entry:

North Texas 45, Tulsa 44

89 combined points.

It was the highest-scoring game in the entire Q2 answer set.

And not one of us picked it.

We managed to find only 4 of the 15 correct games, leaving 11 correct answers completely untouched.

Wrong answer: 7 points.

Q3 — Find One of the 15 Lowest-Scoring Games

This one had a little twist.

Because four games tied at the cutoff, 17 games ultimately qualified rather than 15.

The field did considerably better here:

10 correct, 9 incorrect.

But those 10 correct picks represented only 6 different qualifying games.

That means another 11 correct games were available and completely overlooked.

Wrong answer: 9 points.

😈 Q4 — Score 20+ Points...AND LOSE

This was the killer.

Only 4 of 19 players got Q4 right.

That's 21.1% of the field.

There were actually 19 eligible teams that ultimately satisfied the question.

We found...

three of them.

That means 16 correct Q4 answers went completely unselected.

And remember North Texas–Tulsa, the 89-point game nobody found on Q2?

Tulsa scored 44 points and lost.

So Tulsa was sitting there as a correct Q4 answer too.

Nobody picked them here either.

Then there was Arizona State.

The requirement was to score at least 20 and lose.

Arizona State lost...

with 19.

One point short.

Wrong answer: 5 points.

😭 Q5 — Win While Scoring 30 or Fewer

Only 5 of 19 players got the final question right.

There were 19 qualifying teams available.

We found exactly five of them.

That leaves 14 correct winners nobody selected.

And this question delivered two spectacular ways to miss a threshold by one point.

Louisiana Tech won with 31.

Wisconsin won with 31.

Requirement:

30 or fewer.

Nope.

And both of our leaders missed Q5 in completely different ways.

EagleZipperHero picked Nebraska.

Nebraska won!

...with 48 points.

GarbageMan22 picked Louisiana Tech.

They also won!

...with 31.

Both took the 6-point penalty.

Sometimes picking the winner isn't enough.

🐺 24 Lone Wolves!

Week 5 produced 24 Lone Wolves across 17 different players.

Remember: a Lone Wolf is a correct answer selected by exactly one player, making it worth the minimum 1 point.

With only 19 players in the field but so many eligible choices, there was a ton of room this week to find something nobody else did.

And that helped produce an interesting leaderboard: nobody went 5-for-5, but the two players who went 4-for-5 finished first and second.

Finding the right correct answers mattered.

🏆 Complete Week 5 Leaderboard

📈 The Beta Season So Far

Week 5 had 19 players, all of whom had played at least once before.

That means we're still at 50 different players who have submitted an entry during the inaugural CFB Deep Cuts Beta season.

Weekly turnout:

Week 0 — 15
Week 1 — 30
Week 2 — 24
Week 3 — 23
Week 4 — 27
Week 5 — 19

I'd love to get that number headed back upward for Week 6.

So if you're enjoying the game, bring another college football sicko with you next week.

And if you've played before but missed Week 5, come back! We miss you.

Congratulations again to EagleZipperHero on winning Week 5 by the smallest possible margin.

We've now had 50 different players submit at least one entry during the inaugural 2026 Beta season.

Weekly participation so far:

Week 0 — 15 players
Week 1 — 30 players
Week 2 — 24 players
Week 3 — 23 players
Week 4 — 27 players

Last week ended in our first three-way tie for the win, with Sleepy_Baguette, j0mb00, and mcdsmaster8824 all finishing on 21 points.

I'd love to keep growing the field in Week 5. The more people playing, the more interesting the strategy gets and the harder it becomes to find that perfect answer everyone else overlooked.

So if you know another college football sicko who would enjoy this kind of game, bring them with you!

🧪 The Beta Continues

2026 is still the first CFB Deep Cuts Beta season, and I'm continuing to work on the game as we go.

If you run into a bug, something is confusing, something doesn't behave the way you'd expect, or you just have an idea that would make the game better, please tell me.

Actual players using the game every week has been incredibly helpful in figuring out what needs work.

And, as always...

Please don't post your picks while everyone else is still trying to find theirs. 👀

Good luck in Week 5!

Let's see what ridiculous answers you all find this time.

Be right. Be unpopular. Find those Deep Cuts.

⏰ First, a scheduling update for Week 5 and beyond

Starting this week, I'm moving the weekly CFB Deep Cuts question release from Wednesday at 12:00 PM Central to Wednesday at 3:00 PM Central.

Nothing is changing about the game itself. I'm just giving myself a few extra hours on Wednesdays to work through any bugs or issues that might come up before that week's contest goes live.

So going forward:

🗓️ New questions: Wednesdays at 3:00 PM Central

Thanks for bearing with me as I continue improving everything during the Beta season!

Now, on to Week 4...

🏆 THREE Week 4 Winners!

For the first time this season, we've got a tie at the very top.

Sleepy_Baguette, j0mb00, and mcdsmaster8824 all finished with 21 points!

🥇 Sleepy_Baguette — 21
🥇 j0mb00 — 21
🥇 mcdsmaster8824 — 21

And they didn't get there the same way.

All three went 4-for-5, but each missed a different question: Sleepy_Baguette missed Q2, j0mb00 missed Q4, and mcdsmaster8824 missed Q1.

Just behind them:

4. JStay — 22
5. JBonkies — 26

One point separated first from fourth.

Because ties are included in weekly qualification, all three Week 4 co-winners also earned a postseason berth.

Congratulations!

📊 Week 4 by the Numbers

We had 27 players submit all five answers this week for 135 total scored picks.

Across those 135 picks:

53 were correct.

And 26 of those correct answers were Lone Wolves — correct answers found by exactly one player.

But nobody managed to go 5-for-5.

The Week 4 average score was 35.15, with a median of 38.

As always: lower is better.

😬 Q2 Was Rough

Name a player who will pass for at least 250 yards.

There were 42 eligible players who ultimately cleared the mark.

Sounds easy enough, right?

Only 8 of 27 players got it correct.

Drew Mestemaker threw for 389 yards, but three people found him, making him a 3-point answer.

Five players found Lone Wolves worth just 1 point, including:

🐺 Julian Sayin — 367 yards
🐺 Darian Mensah — 338 yards

Meanwhile, Josh Hoover finished with 201, Drake Lindsey with 204, and Will Hammond with 224. Each was picked by two players.

A miss cost 9 points.

🏈 Q1 Had Answers Everywhere

Q1 asked you to find one of the 20 highest-scoring games of the week.

16 of 27 players got it right, and the field found a bunch of different ways to do it.

Oklahoma State at West Virginia was the popular successful answer. Six players picked it, and its 65 combined points were enough to make the cut.

But two players went considerably bigger with Colorado State at UTSA.

Final score:

UTSA 59, Colorado State 45.

That's 104 combined points and only a 2-point Deep Cuts score.

There were also six Lone Wolf correct games worth only 1 point each.

🎯 Q3: Find an 80-Yard Receiver

Only 9 of 27 got this one right.

Jeremiah Smith's monster 217-yard day was the most popular correct answer, with three players finding him.

Carlos Hernandez put up 194 yards and was selected twice.

And four players found Lone Wolves, including:

🐺 Wyatt Young — 192 yards
🐺 Jesse Legree — 109 yards

Everyone else took a 9-point penalty.

👐 Q4: Seven Receptions

This was actually our most successful player-stat question of the week.

11 of 27 picks were correct.

Carlos Hernandez showed up again, this time with 9 catches, and three players had him.

Jeremiah Smith's 12 receptions drew two picks.

Six other correct receivers were Lone Wolves, including Yamir Knight with 11 catches and Chris Durr Jr. with exactly 7.

And then there was Gavin Freeman.

The target was seven.

He caught six.

Two players had him.

That's a painful way to take the 11-point miss penalty.

😭 And Speaking of Pain...

Q5:

Rush for at least 100 yards.

Kendrick Raphael:

98 yards.

Two yards short. Two players picked him. 9 points each.

Brutal.

Only 9 of 27 players got Q5 right.

Jadan Baugh rushed for 142 and Torrance Burgess Jr. had 140. Both were selected twice.

Five other players found Lone Wolves, including Cam Cook with 193 yards.

And then there's Wayne Knight, who gave his selector absolutely no breathing room whatsoever:

100 yards. Exactly.

Counts!

🏆 Complete Week 4 Leaderboard

📈 50 Different Players!

One of my favorite numbers from this week has nothing to do with scoring.

Week 4 brought four new players into the game:

👋 0aguywithglasses0
👋 Quake1028
👋 TheTrooper74
👋 elnino

Welcome!

That means 50 different people have now submitted at least one CFB Deep Cuts entry during our inaugural Beta season.

Weekly participation so far:

Week 0 — 15
Week 1 — 30
Week 2 — 24
Week 3 — 23
Week 4 — 27

Thank you to everyone who has played, especially those of you who keep coming back every week.

This whole season is still a Beta, and seeing an actual community start to form around this weird little college football game has been one of the coolest parts of building it.

🏈 Week 5 Is Next!

Remember the new schedule:

Week 5 questions are scheduled to go live Wednesday at 3:00 PM Central.

If you've been playing, come back and try again.

If you've been lurking, jump in! You don't need to have played any previous week to start.

And if you're enjoying CFB Deep Cuts, bring another college football sicko with you. The more people we get into the field, the harder — and more fun — finding those overlooked answers becomes.

Congratulations again to Sleepy_Baguette, j0mb00, and mcdsmaster8824 on the three-way Week 4 win!

See you Wednesday at 3 PM Central.

Be right. Be unpopular. Find those Deep Cuts.

Week 4 of the CFB Deep Cuts Beta season is ready to play!

We're officially a few weeks into this experiment now, and I want to start by thanking everyone who has been playing along.

We started with 15 players in Week 0, jumped to 30 in Week 1, and have had 24 players in Week 2 and 23 players in Week 3.

Seeing 20+ people come back each week has been a ton of fun.

Now I want to keep building the field.

🎯 New to CFB Deep Cuts?

The concept is simple:

Be right. Be unpopular. Lowest score wins.

Each week's college football games you get five questions.

You're not just trying to find a correct answer — you're trying to find the least popular correct answer.

Pick a correct answer everyone loves? You'll get the points along with them.

Find a correct answer nobody else picked? 🐺 Lone Wolf — 1 point.

Get it wrong? That's where things can get painful.

🏈 Come Play Week 4

Week 4 is live now:

https://cfbdeepcuts.replit.app

If you've been playing already, come take another shot at it.

If you haven't played yet, jump in! You don't need to have played the previous weeks to start.

2026 is still the inaugural CFB Deep Cuts Beta season, and I'm looking for more people to play, test the game, and help me make it better.

Bugs? Tell me.

Something confusing? Tell me.

Think something could work better? Definitely tell me.

And if you're enjoying the game, tell another college football sicko about it. The more people in the field, the more interesting the strategy becomes.

Don't give away your picks while everyone else is still making theirs. 👀

Good luck in Week 4.

Be right. Be unpopular. Find those Deep Cuts.

A quick note: I apologize if the question are getting a bit stale. I have a deeper question bank/question families, it's just going to take some time to get them into the game! This week we have primarily player questions, let's see how it goes!

Week 3 is officially in the books, and this one rewarded anyone willing to get weird with their picks.

📊 Week 3 by the Numbers

• 23 players
• 23 completed entries
• 115 total answers
• Average score: 26.61
• Median score: 29
• Winning score: 10

As always, lower scores are better. Get the question right, then hope everybody else stayed away from your answer.

🏆 Week 3 Top 10

1. benny_t — 10 (4/5)
2. PhallicGator — 15 (3/5)
3. nightfire36 — 16 (3/5)
4. CFBDC — 19 (2/5)
5. JStay — 19 (2/5)
6. Cwhite13 — 20 (2/5)
7. NoFewerThan31Bees — 21 (2/5)
8. GarbageMan22 — 22 (2/5)
9. Host — 23 (2/5)
10. Sleepy_Baguette — 25 (2/5)

Huge week for benny_t, who went 4-for-5 and finished with a score of just 10, five points clear of second place.

🎯 How the Questions Played Out

Q1 — Throw at least 1 interception: 10/23 correct (43.5%)

This was somehow the easiest question of the week despite fewer than half the field getting it right. Even better for the people who hit it: 10 different players found 10 different correct answers.

Q2 — Finish among the 15 closest games: 6/23 correct (26.1%)

The two most popular picks — SMU at Louisville and Wyoming at Central Michigan — both missed.

Q3 — Rush for at least 125 yards: 6/23 correct (26.1%)

The most popular choices, Gi'Bran Payne and Kamari Moulton, both missed here too.

Q4 — Score at least 24 points and lose: 7/23 correct (30.4%)

Once again, the crowd got burned. Florida International and Ole Miss were the two most popular picks, and neither hit.

Q5 — Score no more than 24 points and win: just 3/23 correct (13.0%)

The hardest question of Week 3. Only Central Michigan, Louisiana and Oklahoma selections hit — and each was picked by exactly one player.

How Deep Did We Go?

Across the five questions, players found 24 different correct answers that were selected by exactly one person.

But there were another 111 correct answers that nobody selected at all.

And here's my favorite Week 3 stat:

Every most-popular answer across all five questions was wrong.

The crowd was not your friend this week.

Congrats to benny_t on the Week 3 win. 🏆

Week 4 coming next! A week 4 post will come out around Noon on Wednesday this work!

🔥 Week 3 is open now and the five new questions are ready to go.

If you're new to CFB Deep Cuts, the goal is simple:

Pick a correct answer that you think the fewest other players will pick.

Every week you get five questions. Correct answers score based on how many players chose them, so the deeper the cut, the better. Lowest total score wins.

Week 2 was a perfect example of how weird this game can get:

• Nobody went better than 3-for-5
• The winning score was 15
• Only 4 points separated the Top 5
• Players found 19 different correct answers
• There were another 142 correct answers that nobody picked at all

You don't have to be perfect. You just have to find answers everyone else overlooks.

The five questions are live, the answer pools are locked in, and entries are open.

Remember: individual selections lock when their associated games kick off, so don't wait too long on the early games.

Good luck finding the Deep Cuts.

And congrats again to Bernbp5 on taking down Week 2!

Week 2 is officially in the books, and once again the leaderboard came down to finding the right answers without following the crowd, as it should ;)

📊 Week 2 by the Numbers

• 24 players
• 24 completed entries — 100% completion
• 120 total answers submitted
• Average score: 26.13
• Median score: 25.5
• Winning score: 15
• Highest score: 39

As always, lower scores are better. A correct answer is good. A correct answer that almost nobody else finds is even better.

🏆 Week 2 Top 5

1. Bernbp5 — 15
2. JStay — 17
3. Host — 18
4. Flavojako — 19
5. GarbageMan22 — 19

Another tight finish: only four points separated first from fifth.

And here's the fun part: nobody went 4-for-5 or 5-for-5 this week.

Bernbp5, JStay, Host, and TheJoshster led the field at 3-for-5, proving again that this game isn't just about getting the most questions right. It's about which correct answers you find.

🎯 Question-by-Question

Q1 — Pass for at least 250 yards

12 of 24 players got it right.

Darian Mensah was the most popular successful pick with 3 selections, while Braden Atkinson, Devon Dampier, Jayden Maiava, Lincoln Kienholz, and Sam Leavitt were each found by just one player.

And there were another 32 correct answers nobody picked.

Q2 — Finish among the 20 lowest-scoring games

This was the friendliest question of the week: 14 of 24 correct (58.3%).

Iowa State at Iowa led the way with 4 selections. Four players went deeper with one-off correct picks: Eastern Michigan at Michigan State, Georgia Southern at Clemson, Montana State at Nevada, and Ohio State at Texas.

Q3 — Rush for at least 100 yards

This one was brutal.

Just 4 of 24 players got it right, and all four found a different answer:

Abu Sama III, Cam Edwards, Jabari Bates, and Lee Beebe Jr.

That's Deep Cuts football right there.

Q4 — At least 7 receptions

Only 7 of 24 were correct.

Easton Messer and Kelby Valsin were each selected twice, while Gavin Freeman, KJ Duff, and Tony Diaz were one-off correct picks.

Q5 — Score at least 21 points and lose

The week's toughest question: just 3 of 24 correct (12.5%).

And all three were unique:

Jacksonville State — TheJoshster
Kansas — gbp_3200
Texas State — Chasetheswede

Meanwhile, UCF was the week's most popular incorrect answer, taking down three entries on this question.

🔦 The Deepest Cuts

Across all five questions, players produced 19 correct answers that were selected exactly once.

Even crazier: there were 142 correct answers that nobody selected at all.

The official Deep Cut streak mechanic is still building its early-season history, so there wasn't an official overlooked Deep Cut award this week—but we're already starting to see just how much unexplored territory is sitting in these answer pools.

👑 How Bernbp5 Won Week 2

Bernbp5 finished 3-for-5 with a score of 15.

The signature pick was KJ Duff on the 7+ receptions question—a correct answer nobody else selected.

That's a pretty good illustration of the whole game: you don't need to be perfect. You need to be correct and different.

Congrats to Bernbp5 on the Week 2 win, and thanks to all 24 players who got their entries in.

On to Week 3. 🏈

Week 2 is here!

We doubled the field from 15 players in Week 0 to 30 players in Week 1, and I'm hoping we can keep it growing.

Last week gave us a ridiculously tight finish:

🥇 SCsprinter13 — 11
🥈 rangerrrango — 12
🥉 GarbageMan22 — 13
4️⃣ JBonkies — 14
5️⃣ genuineboss — 15

Just four points separated the entire Top 5.

Now it's time to do it again.

🎯 The Goal

Five new college football questions.

For each one, you're looking for a correct answer that as few other players as possible will choose.

Be right. Be unpopular. Lowest score wins.

Last week, 30 players managed to submit 29 different answers to the 100-yard rushing question.

Only five of us got it right.

All five correct answers were picked by exactly one person.

That's the kind of nonsense you're signing up for.

🏈 Come Play Week 2

Returning players: your next five questions are waiting.

New players: jump in!

You don't need to have played Week 0 or Week 1 to start playing.

Let's see if we can beat 30 players this week.

Good luck!

Be right. Be unpopular. Find those Deep Cuts.

Week 1 of CFB Deep Cuts is officially in the books!

And first things first:

We doubled the field.

Week 0 had 15 players. Week 1 had 30 players!

Thank you to everyone who played!

Now, about that leaderboard...

🏆 SCsprinter13 Wins Week 1!

Congratulations to SCsprinter13, who takes the Week 1 crown with a score of just 11 points!

And this one was CLOSE.

1. 🥇 SCsprinter13 — 11
2. 🥈 rangerrrango — 12
3. 🥉 GarbageMan22 — 13
4. JBonkies — 14
5. genuineboss — 15

That's only four points separating first from fifth.

Even better: all five of them went 4-for-5.

Nobody in the Top 5 separated themselves by simply getting more questions right. The difference was finding less popular correct answers.

That's Deep Cuts.

SCsprinter13 and rangerrrango also claimed Week 1's two weekly qualification spots. Congratulations!

😈 Q3 Was Absolutely Brutal

Pick a player to rush for 100+ yards.

Sounds reasonable.

Apparently not.

Only 5 of 30 players got Q3 correct.

Even crazier, the 30-player field submitted 29 different players.

And all five correct answers were selected by exactly one person:

🐺 Adam Mohammed — California
🐺 Braxton Woodson — Navy
🐺 Cam Cook — West Virginia
🐺 Jaylin Carter — Memphis
🐺 Kamari Moulton — Iowa

Five correct answers. Five one-player Lone Wolves.

Meanwhile, the only player who was picked more than once — Oklahoma State's Caleb Hawkins — didn't get there.

That might be the most CFB Deep Cuts result possible.

🎯 Q5: Easy Question, Dangerous Miss

On the other end of the spectrum was Q5:

Pick a team to score 24+ points and win.

The field crushed it.

28 of 30 players got it right.

But here's the fun part: those 30 players still managed to submit 26 different teams.

And 21 correct teams were picked by only one person.

So even on a question almost everyone got right, there was a ton of room to find an overlooked answer.

The downside?

The two misses — Arkansas State and Louisville — were very expensive.

A wrong answer on Q5 cost 27 points.

One pick could completely change your week.

🔎 Lone Wolves Were Everywhere

There were some fantastic one-player answers throughout the week.

SCsprinter13 found Arkansas-Pine Bluff at Missouri on Q1 and Tarleton State at Bowling Green on Q2.

JBonkies found four one-player hits: Northwestern State at Louisiana Tech on Q1, Braxton Woodson on Q3, Northwestern State at Louisiana Tech again on Q4, and Iowa on Q5.

genuineboss found SMU at Florida State on Q2, Jaylin Carter on Q3, and Rice on Q5.

GarbageMan22 hit Idaho at Utah on Q1 and Utah on Q5.

And rangerrrango found Utah Tech at BYU on Q1 and Army on Q5.

That's what I'm loving about seeing a bigger field play this game.

You're not just asking:

"What's the right answer?"

You're asking:

"What's the right answer that everyone else is going to overlook?"

🏈 Thank You!

Seriously, thank you to all 30 Week 1 players.

We went from 15 players in Week 0 to 30 in Week 1, and the bigger field made the strategy even more interesting.

2026 is still the inaugural CFB Deep Cuts Beta season, so please keep the feedback coming. Tell me what's fun, what's confusing, what isn't working, and what you'd like to see improve.

And if you know another college football sicko who would enjoy trying to outsmart everyone else...

Bring them with you for Week 2.

Congratulations again to SCsprinter13!

Week 2 is next.

Be right. Be unpopular. Find those Deep Cuts.

Thank you for your patience!

Week 1 of the CFB Deep Cuts Beta season is here!

After a very fun first week, we're back for the first full week of the college football season.

Week 0 had 15 players, 75 submitted answers, 9 Lone Wolves, and one question where all 15 of us completely missed the only correct answer.

Congratulations again to gbp_3200, who won Week 0 with a score of just 7 points.

Now it's time to see what Week 1 has for us.

How to Play

The goal is simple:

Be right. Be unpopular. Lowest score wins.

You'll get five college football questions. For each one, you're trying to choose a correct answer that as few of the other players as possible will choose.

Find a correct answer nobody else picks and you've found a Lone Wolf worth just 1 point.

Pick the obvious answer along with everybody else? It might be correct, but you're taking all of them with you.

🏈 Come Play Week 1

If you played Week 0, thank you for being part of the first-ever CFB Deep Cuts field. Let's do it again.

If you didn't play Week 0, this is a great time to jump in.

2026 is the inaugural CFB Deep Cuts Beta season, and I'm trying to get as many people playing as I can. The bigger the field gets, the more interesting the strategy gets — and I need actual players helping me figure out what works, what's confusing, what breaks, and what could make the game better.

Week 1 is ready to play here:

https://cfbdeepcuts.replit.app

Sign in, head to Participant Mode → Play, open the active Week 1 contest, make one selection for each of the five questions, and hit Submit Answers.

And please don't post your picks while everyone else is still trying to find theirs. 👀

Thanks again to everyone helping me Beta-test this thing.

Let's make the Week 1 field bigger than Week 0.

Good luck.

Be right. Be unpopular. Find those Deep Cuts.

The first week of CFB Deep Cuts is officially in the books!

First off, a huge thank you to the 15 people who jumped into Week 0 and became the first real players of the CFB Deep Cuts Beta.

All 15 of you completed all five questions, which gave us 75 answers to score — and we already got some wonderfully weird results out of them.

🏆 Your Week 0 Winner: gbp_3200

Congratulations to gbp_3200, who takes the first-ever CFB Deep Cuts weekly win with a score of just 7 points!

Remember: lower is better.

gbp_3200 went 4-for-5, found two Lone Wolves, and also earned the Week 0 qualification spot.

The Week 0 Top 5:

gbp_3200 — 7

Salami — 10

CFBDC — 11

benny_t — 11

j0mb00 — 13

Nobody managed to go 5-for-5.

And there's a pretty funny reason why.

🐸 The Answer Nobody Found

Q4 asked everyone to pick a player who would rush for 125+ yards.

Fifteen players took their shots.

We collectively guessed 12 different players.

And every single one of us was wrong.

There was exactly one eligible correct answer:

TCU RB Jeremy Payne — 142 rushing yards.

Nobody picked him.

Here's where one of the weird parts of Deep Cuts scoring kicked in: because nobody submitted a correct answer, everyone received 0 points for the question.

So the entire field completely whiffed...and nobody got hurt by it. We will call this a bad question for week 0.

Apparently the deepest possible cut is one that none of us can find.

🐺 Nine Lone Wolves!

Week 0 also produced 9 Lone Wolves across 7 different players.

A Lone Wolf is a correct answer that exactly one person submitted, which means it scores just 1 point.

Salami and gbp_3200 each managed to find two.

And Q2 — picking a player to throw for 125+ yards — was absolute Lone Wolf territory. We submitted 11 different answers among 15 players, and four different correct answers ended up as Lone Wolves.

That's exactly the kind of thing I was hoping would happen with this game.

The goal isn't just figuring out what's going to happen on Saturday.

It's figuring out what's going to happen that everyone else overlooks.

😬 And Then There Were the Traps...

Q3 was brutal.

The question was to pick a player who would throw 2+ touchdown passes, and only 4 of 15 players got it right.

Ashton Daniels looked appealing enough to draw five picks.

He missed.

Meanwhile, Luke Weaver hit the mark — and gbp_3200 was the only person who found him, making Weaver another Lone Wolf.

Q1 created another huge swing. 13 of 15 players picked a winner correctly, but Florida State was the obvious choice with six picks.

Finding a less popular winner could save you several points.

Missing entirely?

That cost 11.

Welcome to Deep Cuts.

🏈 On to Week 1 -

Seriously, thank you to the original 15 Beta players. If you enjoyed playing consider supporting the app so more improvements can be made and supported!

Seeing an actual group of people play something I've spent so much time building and then finally getting to see the strategy and weird scoring situations play out with real picks was incredibly fun.

Now I want to make the field bigger.

If you missed Week 0, come join us for Week 1!

2026 is still the CFB Deep Cuts Beta season, and I'm looking for as many people as possible who want to play throughout the season and help me make the game better.

If something is confusing, something breaks, you have an idea, or you just want to talk strategy, please post here in r/CFBDeepCuts. I genuinely want the feedback.

The more people we get playing, the more interesting the strategy gets.

Thanks again to our first 15.

And congratulations to gbp_3200, the first weekly winner in CFB Deep Cuts history.

Week 1 is next. Find the answers nobody else will.

Use this thread for anything related to this week's contest game discussion, questions, feedback, something that confused you, or anything that doesn't seem to be working correctly.

Since this is the Beta, I especially want to hear about your experience playing. Don't worry about whether something is "important enough" to mention. If you noticed it, I'd rather hear about it.

And once you've submitted your answers, feel free to hang out and talk about the games just don't give away your picks while the contest is still open!

Good luck!

Be right. Be unpopular. Find those Deep Cuts.

New to CFB Deep Cuts? Here's How a Week Works

If you're new to CFB Deep Cuts, here's the basic rhythm of the game during the 2026 Beta season.

The goal is for CFB Deep Cuts to become part of your normal college football week: questions come out, make your picks, watch the games, check your results, and do it all again next week.

🗓 Wednesday — New Contest Opens

New weekly questions are scheduled to open Wednesday at 12:00 PM Central.

Once the contest is open:

1. Sign in to CFB Deep Cuts.
2. Go to Play.
3. Your current week will appear as the Active Contest.
4. Answer all five questions.
5. Hit Submit Answers.

You need to answer all five questions before your submission will be accepted.

Once it goes through, you'll see:

“Your answers were submitted.”

🏈 Before & During the Games — Make Your Picks

You can submit your answers any time after the contest opens and before the applicable submission deadlines.

The intended weekly format is for deadlines to follow the games themselves rather than having the entire contest close at the first kickoff.

📺 Thursday–Monday — Watch Some Football

Now comes the fun part.

Watch the games and see whether your picks hit!

Remember, simply being correct isn't enough in CFB Deep Cuts.

You want to be right and unpopular.

🧮 After the Games — Scoring

During the 2026 Beta, scoring is currently handled after the necessary games and results are in.

The Commissioner will initiate scoring, review the week's results, and finalize the contest.

That means results may not appear immediately after the last game ends.

Especially during the Beta, please give me a little time to make sure everything is scored correctly.

📊 Results

Once the week has been scored and finalized, you'll be able to see your results in CFB Deep Cuts.

We're going to learn more about the exact results experience as we complete the first few weeks of the Beta.

🔁 Then We Do It Again

The next contest is scheduled to open the following Wednesday at noon Central, and we start all over again:

New questions → Submit your answers → Watch football → Get scored → See how you did → Repeat.

That's the weekly rhythm of CFB Deep Cuts.

Be right. Be unpopular. Find those Deep Cuts.

Welcome to CFB Deep Cuts Come Play the 2026 Beta Season!

Welcome to CFB Deep Cuts!

CFB Deep Cuts is a weekly college football strategy game built around a simple idea:

Be right. Be unpopular. Lowest score wins.

Each week, you'll answer five questions about college football. If your answer is correct, your score is based on how many other players chose the same answer, so finding the obvious correct answer isn't necessarily good enough.

You're looking for the correct answer that everyone else overlooks.

2026 is the inaugural CFB Deep Cuts Beta season.

We're playing a real season, but the app itself is still actively being built and improved. Some of the tools behind the scenes are still developing, the variety of questions may grow as the season goes on, and I'm sure we'll find some rough edges once more people start playing.

That's a big part of why I'm doing a Beta season with an actual community of players. I want to learn from people actually playing the game and make CFB Deep Cuts better as the season goes on.

If something is confusing, something doesn't seem to work correctly, or you have an idea for how the game could be better, I genuinely want to hear about it.

I'll create a post here for each week's contest. Please use that week's post for questions, discussion, and feedback about that week's game.

Most importantly, though: have fun playing the game.
