The only consistent brawlers left in the a tier are Belle and Mina.

Everyone else has either fell off horrifically or are starting to show signs of falling off. (Cough, Cough: Gene).

FYI, it has been 4 updates sense buffies 1st launched.

(Im just fed up with this nonsense man).

Bug Main sub ignored it but Starr Nova’s super does not work like it is supposed to

Thumbnail

Starr Nova’s super is listed as healing for 30% of damage dealt without specification to an enemy type. However it does not heal you when hitting an enemy pet or spawner. It only works when hitting an enemy brawler.

What makes this worse is that her star power, Power Level: Maximum, DOES specify it only works on enemy brawlers yet does in fact get activated by non brawler enemies.

Discussion It feels like several Brawlers are listed as the wrong class, made even more apparent with Vince.

Post image
31 Upvotes

With Vince being released as a Damage Dealer, he really feels more specialized as a Marksman (I'll elaborate more on his section below). That inconsistency made me think about the other Brawlers who are listed in one class but fit better under a separate class. with a couple exceptions, most of these aren't big deals since the only time classes had a tangible gameplay effect was the Spongebob event but most of these still boggle my mind.

I should note that I've seen a lot of older posts tried to add new classes. This will not be one of those posts. I'm only going to be redistributing the Brawlers among existing classes, as I think having too many classes, or any "hybrid" classes, will make things more confusing.

The entire Artillery Class: Before going into specific Brawlers, in my opinion the Artillery class has become somewhat questionable to exist. We currently only have 7 Artillery throwers, and 4 non-Artillery throwers (Willow, Berry, Ziggy, and Sirius); 4/11 is 36% of our throwers not being under the dedicated thrower class, which is a relatively high percent of exceptions for what it was trying to encompass. With the exception of Berry, the non-Artillery throwers are listed as Controllers, but it fits for all three of them, and I don't want to move them to Artillery just because of their main attack patterns. So, I moved Sprout back to Support, Barley and Tick to Controller, and the other 4 ex-Artillery (Dynamike, Grom, Larry, Juju) to Damage Dealer.

Griff: I'm getting this one out of the way early since we all know that Griff with his extreme dps fits better as a Damage Dealer than a Controller. Both of his gadgets post-Buffies honestly do fit under being a controller, and he does a decent job at it, but his main attack and super have such high dps that it feels wrong to not have him as a damage dealer.

Mina: Another obvious one. Her main attack moves her around like Stu, how is she not an assassin?

Meg: I've seen a lot of posts on this sub about how Meg seems like a confused design, and I agree. She and Bibi are currently the only two tanks with no trait that charges super in any form. Meg's playstyle is obviously meant to be a reference to Dva (and I guess now Dmon due to the sword) from Overwatch, but Dva and Dmon have normal tank health in their mech forms, while Meg has fairly low health in both forms. Since Meg's range is also pretty long for a tank, I've moved her back to Damage Dealer, which was her class at release anyways.

Buster: The Support Class, like Artillery, has a lot of overlap with other classes, though unlike Artillery I think Support should stay. Since Buster's trait requires teammates and he lacks the main tank trait, I've moved him to Support.

Vince and R-T: Both of these Brawlers have long range, and neither fares really well at close range. They do have more health than most snipers, but they also both have marking mechanics similar to Belle's super. In R-T's case, the class is currently named Marksman (though I think it should be renamed back to Sharpshooter since most of them are female, but I digress), how was he not put into that class? Vince, meanwhile, feels like a mix of Belle with the marking super, Pierce with the collecting items from the ground, and Pearl for his passive waiting playstyle. Given that he's reminding me of two sharpshooters and only one dps, Vince really feels more like a sharpshooter than a dps.

Najia: Like Vince and R-T, Najia excels at long range but is relatively weak at close range. On top of that, needing to aim her projectile mid-launch for different angles fits under being a sniper, ad she has a ine-ammo mechanic similar to Bea and Bonnie. I was considering putting her into controller due to the poison, but the Marksman/Sharpshooter class is surprisingly barren, and the Controller class is going to be crowded. For the same reason, I did not move Janet to Controller nor Maisie to Damage Dealer, even though they both fit those classes.

Spike and Tara: I never understood why these two are not considered Controllers. Controllers are a mix of area of effect and crowd control stuns/slows. Spike and Tara both have big aoe main attacks and supers, and both of their supers disrupt the opponents with a pull and a slow, and can control a lane they are not currently in. How are they not controllers?

Starr Nova: Stella has a very long main attack range compared to the other assassins; it's around Nita's range, plus it's easier to hit than Nita's since Stella is hitscan. Her super form is close range, but so is Moe's. I don't want to move Moe to Assassin though since his main attack is not an assassin's, and in hindsight, neither is Stella's. Hence, she is moving to Damage Dealer.

Sam: I'm ending this post with two Brawlers who arguably fit their current classes, but I think fit better under a different class. Sam is currently a confusing design and I have zero doubt he will be getting a major rework with his Buffies. Like every tank except Bibi and Meg, he has a super recharging mechanic, he has more health than a lot of tanks, and he has a lot of healing due to a star power that is almost certainly going to become base kit. He does fit under Assassin since those are also usually close range, but with his giant health pool, I'd argue Sam fits better as a Tank.

Colette: I'm going to assume that some people are going to disagree with this because I never see this come up, but I think Colette should be classes as an Assassin, and that mostly comes from how assassins work in other games. In the board game Stratego, the Spy piece is the only one that can kill the Marshall, but the Spy loses to every other piece, similar to how Colette is stronger against high-health brawlers but weak against low health. In TF2, Spy's backstab is a one hit kill against anyone, from the 300 health heavy to the 125 health classes. I'm iffy about this is due to Colette's long range, as I mentioned in the Starr Nova segment. Stu, Melodie, and Crow also have long range though, so Colette could fit as an assassin.

TLDR: Vince, R-T, Griff, Mina, Meg, Sam, Buster, Spike, Tara, Starr Nova, Najia, and arguably Sam, Colette, and the entire Artillery class don't fit under their current classes.

Discussion How would you rework/buff Crash test?

Post image
16 Upvotes

I’m trying to do a balance change concept and I’ve tried a lot to buff it but I feel like this gadget needs something more.

How can it be buffed or reworked while not making the other gadget too weak and make crash test balanced?

I’m trying to get the community opinion on this one.Since I ran out of ideas

(Not related to post but mods look at modmail please for my balance change concept it’s been 4-5 days and still no answers if it’s a Reddit bug then I’m sorry for the confusion)

Any changes should be explained

Have a good day (:

Critique “Supercell, we’ve been trying to reach you about your worsening buffie situation”

Post image
18 Upvotes

I could sit here and rant about everything that is wrong with buffies, but let me boil it down to two major issues (with examples):

#1: The buffies that are given to brawlers have a 50/50 chance of making them op or have no effect/ giving no extra value (sometimes even nerfing the previous ablity. A brawlers that became busted after buffied was Bibi. She basically was able (and still is) to heal over 70% of her health and fully charge her bat at the press of a button, and along with her hyper buffie, she was able to teamwipe easily. And then there’s Rico. Both his star powers and gadgets do nothing to make his gameplay better. He had a gadget that he would heal from the amount one attack ricocheted, and was nerfed to basically be a worse moe main attack.

#2: Most if not all of the brawlers that were given overtuned buffies only stayed op for a month or two and were then shot to the ground by nerfs not to the buffies but their main kit. They would shot up to S++ tier and then be nerfed to A or B tier and then pushed further down by the next wave of broken brawlers. This makes buffies lose their purpose since they were originally meant to rework brawlers, not just make them temporarily the best in the game.

Discussion Which Brawlers are evergreen (or which ones used to)

The entire community is melting with Gene dropping in the meta, so I want to be sure which ones are left. From what I know we have Belle, Mina, Kenji, Max, Kaze, Jae-Yong, Colette, Poco, fall offs are Gene, Angelo, R-T, Barley, Cordelius, Moe, to an (extreme) extent we got Charlie, Gale, Mortis and potentially, in the future, Cosmo and Nori will also be evergreens. Correct me where I'm wrong.

Critique Genunely What the fuck was the balance team cooking with shade buffies

His ass was already B tier before then but sure let’s give the brawler that gets infinite move speed and is effectively invincible during super 30% damage reduction for 6 s. Also give him hard cc on 2 gadgets, one being 2 s long.

Yes

The character that deals 6,4 k in 2 ammos. Great game design now he just takes over the game every Time he gets a single fear proc on jumpscare because it allows him to snowball out of any brawler’s reach.

Speaking of let’s give shade a jump (1s invincibility) before he gets his instakill cc. Throw a shield on top of that for some fucking reason so you still get statchecked if you space his gadget.

Like I’m done. When shade is in enemy and you can’t break walls you might just double swipe and go play another game. His sets of buffies are like giving sam his hyper procced at all Time . Genunely baffling

Discussion Clearing up some misconceptions about Bolt. (Along with bashing a few takes about him).

Post image
31 Upvotes

Note: I personally do not care about if you like this brawler or not, but there are a few things that people say about him that are just plain wrong and I feel like they have to be addressed. (Also tldr is at the end for anyone who doesn't want to hear me elaborate my points)

  1. HE IS NOT A DIVE TANK! I don't understand people who say that bolt is a dive tank because he can go into anyone at any time. He is a pressure tank (kinda similar to buster but with the insane mobility, heck calling him a tank is pushing it a lot because the hp is very clearly meant to make up for his insanely aggro playstyle). The way you are very clearly meant to play Bolt is to counter snipers who has no forms of cc. (Or assassins that use mobility to move like mortis due to his toss up star power). Im a way, he's more assassin like than tank like. (Though assassins tend to be more burst oriented which doesn't fit bolt at all)

  2. Bolt wasn't bad due to his acceleration speed nerf. (If the fact he was used 3 times and banned using LCQ Was anything to go by) Bolt was bad because of his speed being bugged due to the global speed changes, [from i think late last update to around the start of the next, Idk when the bug fully arrived tbh], which brings up another misconception.

  3. Bolt can't be bad if they don't touch his movement speed, hp or damage reduction from his super. (In fact now that his speed is no longer trash, I would honestly say he's quite underrated as a last pick option and a incredible carry pick if you good with him).

  4. Bolt is actually skilled. (Though his skill floor is practically nonexistent, im mainly focus on his skill cap which by the standards of most modern brawlers is actually pretty high, not mina levels but I would say higher than usual). This is mainly due to that fact you have to keep moving constantly all the time. Meaning you have to react to certain situations almost perfectly and messing up even once could lead to death.

  5. [And this one is definitely a hot take] I don't mind Bolt being in the game; (in fact I encourage more brawlers with unique playstyles like him). He's honestly not that much different from an assassin in terms of roles sense the goals of assassins to usually create pressure to the enemy team and quickly eliminate enemies as fast as possible. (Which he can do from his super and good target when enemy's are at low hp which is usually the best time for assassins to kill a target). Though even I will admit, he was definitely more so designed for ranked more so in ladder. (Bolt in ladder sucks no matter what way you put it). Additionally despite having a clear way to nullify his weaknesses, Bolts weaknesses are way more clear compared to most of the other brawlers released around this time. (Heck the fact he wasn't in the top 15 for strongest brawler if all time says enough honestly).

  6. Bolt is actually well designed for what he's meant to be, but sense he's so foreign to this game I can understand why some people think otherwise. (Side note, why wasn't this the ultra brawler for this year, would have been a far for acceptable brawler for the rarity than sirius).

Finally, 7. [And this technically isn't Bolt related but I wanted to yap about this anyways], the entire existence of Bolt and Kit proves that Kit can't fundamentally work as a brawler at all without be inherently toxic in anyway, for example if you try to make him as an assassin, (like when his hyper released) then he'll be an annoying pest that can assassinate and quickly escape from the team all while having most of his super charged. But if you were to make him lean into the support angle, then he'll be annoying on teams with tons of high health brawlers because he can heal and toss thrower shots (which are also inherently toxic), or on mobility based brawler can heal them and make them harder to kill, Bolt being essentially the best of both world and being overpowered due to both overtuned stats and this Kit Bolt combo should have probably been enough for Kit to get a harsh nerf. (Like maybe to how long he can last on tanks before dropping) and Im horrified of the day for when he gets his buffies.

TLDR: Bolt is, Not a dive tank, has a major bug which made him bad for a while (the acceleration nerf made him balanced in my eyes), he fundamentally cannot be bad unless his movement speed or survivability was touched, isn't braindead, actually fits into the game more than people think, (and before you yell at me about this, consider that mico exists), actually isn't badly designed for what he is and most of his strength came from a toxic synergy.

If you somehow actually read all of that, then thank you for reading and remember this; In ranked, if your starting to get angry then take a break and come back later. Trust me, It will save you some pain.

Discussion Early Season Rank Sucks

Post image
33 Upvotes

This might not matter in like 3 weeks, but i feel like early Season ranked is completely luck without a team. Either you push all the way there in the first 2 days, or you get stuck and your randoms suck. Hopefully they solve this in the new system, since it can be really annoying at times.

Critique Can we PLEASE make it so that the caterpillars spawn cooldown is consistent?

Right now I think it's ranging between 4 and 6 seconds in a sequence. That's a big problem! One caterpillar can save Vince in so many situations. He can't just rely on different cooldowns as he can't control them

I'd say one grub every 5 seconds should be fine. There could also be a mechanic where if he hits an enemy the cooldown is reduced by 1 seconds

Discussion Option to toggle-off ELO before match

I was just thinking a way to "combat" bad randoms without affecting game play of others -- considering it's not a true ELO system (it is not zero-sum ELO as you can see by boosted each season), I don't think it would make that much a difference.

Essentially, after brawlers are chosen, *before* any game play, an option to turn off ELO rating (EDIT: should lose some elo, 30-50). Your random picks tick in hotzone? Turn it off. I think this would remove a lot of the frustration.

To be clear, if you ended up winning, you would also *not* get ELO. This would not affect anyone else's ELO -- just yours.

EDIT:
It seems people like to trash ideas rather than think collaboratively? Obviously there are flaws in this idea, it was meant as a starting point. The two biggest ideas and counters:

- Lose a small amount of ELO by choosing this option - similar to skipping out on lobbies (helps defeat the solo players trolling)
- Don't allow this for team play

Honestly every other tank has some clear thing they counter. Single shot -> Ash, Tanks -> El Primo, Can be interrupted by CC -> Bibi. But Ollie?

I like this little goat 🐐 and kinda pick him whenever in ko or bounty when I don't want to ego pick but play a tank, but he has a lot of counters. Still tho, what exactly is the ideal Ollie matchup?

Guide What on earth is gamesense and how can I improve on it

Gamesense to me feels like an abstract concept or a buzzword that is complicated to grasp.

they said its important to get better at the game but every guide I watch is either too lacking or is too infodump heavy, clcan you give me tips like what brawlers classes are good in what maps and how to know that from a glance,or how to deal with randoms that don't cooperate with me when lane switching, and so on and so forth, and can you not say to"just watch a video or something"(I don't mean to be rude tho)thank you for your time
