r/AtlanticCity - Minor moderation updates

Hello r/atlanticcity. If you did not see the previous mod announcement, you can find it here: Atlantic City Sub now being moderated - Changes & Updates : r/atlanticcity

There are a few notes and updates. As we've cleaned up bad behavior, we've had to make adjustments:

  • The sub now has 2 human moderators and several bots.
    • The bots have been successful identifying and removing bad behavior. However, they are ai tools and imperfect. Please contact the mod team via modmail if you believe a bot action was incorrect.
    • Automoderator and the bots have caught most of the posts soliciting illegal behavior before they go live. However occasionally one gets through. Please report these posts if you see them.
  • Crowd Control features have been loosened. They were impacting people acting in good faith and not stopping bad behavior.
  • Rule #4, No Hate, has been updated and expanded to No hate, Abuse, or Bullying. Remember the Human.
    • Our intention had been to moderate lightly and only remove comments that were hateful or advocated violence. A few redditors make this impractical. We really do not want to have to moderate redditor discussions but:
      • Reddit Admins are removing abusive comments almost daily
      • Some posts have had threads with lots of reports.
    • We do not want this sub quarantined. Therefore, any user with comments removed by reddit admins will receive (at least) a temp ban.
  • Users with new accounts, negative karma, or a CQS score of low or lowest have all posts and comments filtered for moderator review.
    • This seems to catch most of the bad behavior not caught by bots or automoderator.
    • Users will see an automoderator comment when their post/comment is filtered.
  • Users without a verified email address will have Posts filtered for moderator review.
    • This does not apply to comments
    • While inconvenient, this rule is responsible for filtering most of the prostitution/drug posts.
  • We're introducing rule #5 - no gatekeeping.
    • We get a lot of repeat questions here. And we're going to encourage these posts. What was true one weekend may not be true the next. So, if you find yourself frustrated that someone asked a question you saw last week, please refrain from commenting.

We encourage users to continue reporting posts that break the sub rules, we'll try to review items as soon as possible.

Discussion I built a free site to compare licensed dispensary prices around Atlantic City

If you’re comparing licensed dispensaries around AC this weekend, I built https://dankdetour.com to save checking a bunch of menus.

Search a product, choose how far you’re willing to drive, and compare the same item cheapest first. The better price might actually be closer. Bundle offers show the buy quantity, and there are filters for shops near train/light rail or bus stops.

Free, no ads, no login, and no ordering through the site. It’s my side project and still in beta, so I’d love local feedback—especially missing products or prices that look wrong. Prices are before tax; check the shop’s menu before heading out. For adults 21+.

watch out for zelle scam

I just wanted to share an experience I had in Bally's earlier today. I believe it was a scam attempt but I didn't fall for it. I was walking around near the carousel bar and an attractive woman, maybe about 30 walked up and started talking to me. (This was my first reason to be suspicious lol.) She explained that she had cash, but needed to check into the hotel and that required a card. She asked if I would accept the cash and Zelle her the amount so she had money on her debit card to use. I declined and she didn't insist.

Later I googled and apparently yeah, it's a scam where after you unlock your phone, the scammer will ask to take the phone, to enter their phone number or email address into zelle... but then they will transfer a higher amount than you had agreed. I read that the scam has been reported in Hoboken in recent months. Also her story didn't even make much sense as it was around 11am so not anywhere near check in time for a hotel.

Stay safe out there folks. This is actually the second time I've encountered an "unlocked phone" scam in AC.

Hotel Whats the casino with the most stuff to explore and the most vibrant life after midnight?

Im planning a solo staycation in AC but I havent been in years and I know a lot of pieces closed down or got renovated.

My favorite part about AC casinos before was having all of these nooks and crannies with different vibey rooms. I really enjoy a painted sky ceiling or a starry night fake street.

I am also an insomniac so I just want to feel like the place is alive late at night and not just in the clubs and bars sections. Im looking for people being around at 3am.

If love to hear any fun suggestions too. Thanks so much.

Question DoorDash question for city residents

Hello r/atlanticcity

I have a question for those of you who order deliveries from the mainland: do honestly expect someone is going to make that long drive for $5?

I’ll be honest, I don’t like Dashing in your city. Too many people expect pick ups or deliveries to high rises or casinos. And it doesn’t matter if the high rise is a project or luxury condos, the parking situation makes it not worthwhile for anything less than $15.

I decline dozens of AC deliveries every day. Judging by how many time DoorDash re-attempts to get me to deliver the same order, I assume many other drivers also prefer to stay on the mainland.

So I just have to ask, are you finding suckers to deliver these orders? Or do you finally get cold food?
