Thoughts on ext 1 ?
I found it pretty chill, but i honestly feel like q13 was the actual q14 haha
Hi All!
I hope you're all getting value from r/ATAR.
The subreddit has grown so much in just a year, and we're now starting to draw quite a bit of traffic and engagement naturally. I'm excited for what is to come as we continue to grow, hopefully we can truly make the best universal subreddit (and future Discord server š) for all high school students across all states in Australia.
With the subreddit consistently growing month-on-month I'm in need of additional moderators to help me keep on top of posts and comments. Please let me know if you'd like to help out with moderation, ideally you'd be a consistent contributor and current ATAR student or recent high school graduate / uni student.
Also feel free to let me know if there's anything you'd like to see (features / weekly threads / resources etc) from the subreddit or if there's any way we can improve it. Genuinely want this to be the best space for high school students in Aus!
Send through a Mod Mail if you're interested in moderation.
Thanks,
Mod Team

Ever since joining this subreddit, I have gotten so much valuable insight and advice. Not just that, massive thanks to 'Background-Height885' (whoever he is) and Nilesh for really giving me so much of their time to help a complete stranger (especially Nilesh who wrote like a whole 2 pages of feedback on an essay I barely thought would even be read). Everybody here helps each other out even though we are all online strangers and it has inspired me to do the same too.
I never thought strangers on the internet would actually donate their time to others why do you do this? Like there's always those 1 or 2 people who write like full body paragraphs and conclusions to some of the questions here (and some of my mine). I just want to thank everyone.

For me, most were pretty damn easy except for the 15 mark Hatshepsut question

so iām in the class of 2027 meaning i just started year 12 a few weeks ago.
ever since the start of this year ive been in a really bad place mentally and my attendance dropped to like %20. last week my parents got called by the school saying if my attendance doesnāt improve to %85 i will be pulled from my HSC.
and now im basically stuck between not knowing if i should get my HSC and push through the last few terms cause ive already made it this far or if i should just seek full time work and drop out?

hi weāre looking at haploid and diploid, specifically the chromosomes and homogulous pairing of a muntjack deer (6 diploid cells, 3 homogulous pairs) I GENUINELY do not understand, and doing a visual didnāt seem to help me( because I donāt get it ā¹ļø)
Anyways one of the questions was interphase vs cytokenisis( comparing cell count, chromosome count and homogulous pairings) and if anyone could even attempt to make an explanation for a 5 year old id be so appreciative

Hey everyone, I posted about my app here before, but I realised I spent more time explaining the study idea than showing what you can actually do on the site. So I wanted to explain it properly this time.
Iām building it for Year 11 and 12 students doing WACE, HSC, VCE, QCE or SACE. You choose your course and a topic youāre revising, generate some practice questions, and have a go at answering them.
The part I care most about is the written answers. You write your response in your own words, then get feedback on what you covered and what needs more explanation. The aim is to help you see whether you missed a concept, skipped a step in your working, or knew the idea but didnāt explain the connection clearly enough.
That gives you something specific to work on for your next attempt. Knowing you got a question wrong is useful, but I want the feedback to help you understand what to do about it.
Thereās also Ask Avi alongside the questions. You can ask for a hint while youāre working, or get help understanding the explanation after answering. There are flashcards for recall practice too, and whole-essay feedback on the paid plans.
Iāve put a lot of time into testing questions, fixing things and improving the feedback and course coverage. Itās still a work in progress. If a question is confusing or the feedback misses something, thatās useful for me to hear because it gives me something concrete to fix.
The marking uses AI, so it can get things wrong. Treat the scores as practice estimates and check anything questionable against your teacherās guidance or course materials.
You can try it without making an account or entering card details. Written-answer quiz feedback is included in the free plan, with usage limits. Paid plans have larger allowances and extra features.

Yeah. Getting a bit worried that it's pushing the line too much.

U3 average 92%
U4 average 97%
School sacs are very hard I would say, teacher is a 6 year examiner who marks extremely hard
Rank 1
Trail exam 90% (marked by a different external examiner)
Predicted study score?

I honestly donāt have anything Iām too passionate about and I feel like Iād be fine doing whatever degree so long as it guarantees employability, good pay, and isnāt fully replaceable by AI. I was thinking of law since I enjoy reading and literature over maths, but my main two picks are either UNSW or USYD law and Iām worried that I wonāt make the cut (definitely wonāt for USYD but hoping for UNSW).
My main concern is stability and salary as with the rate AI is developing, many job markets are already tanking and oversaturated with automation, so if anybody has any degree suggestions that they could kindly suggest (pref at UNSW/USYD) itād be very much appreciated :)
My cohorts median ATAR was 96.20 last year and seeing that Iām around an average Joe for internal rankings Iām hoping for a 94-97

howd we all go with engineering studies? was there anything we found hard? Or was it easy- I personally found it familiar, but challenging i think i'll get 60% tbh

My current subjects are
Math methods
English (the highest level we have, not sure what its called elsewhere)
Physics
Society/culture
SRM (compulsory)
There has been a big timetable related problem with no solution due to composite classes being introduced. I am being forced to drop either physics or society and I have chosen society. To fill that blank spot instead of picking biology or accounting I will be taking extension studies. I am still new to Y12 so I don't have much of an idea on this but from your experience or knowledge is this subject combination extraordinarily hard or is it still manageable in some form? My desired field is medicine which is why I need a high ATAR but it's worrisome to me that I won't be able to take on all these subjects at once, mostly due to extension studies.
