Calc BC Calc BC teacher gives us calculator MCQs but no calculator 🥲
Yes we all get Cs on her tests (or lower). She wants us to get used to failure and I get the lesson but come on!

A few years ago we ran surveys of this subreddit to gather data on your experiences for a variety of things. Which resources are the most effective? How much time outside of class do you spend? Did your score reflect your grade in class?
These surveys were ran a couple times and, along with a few other polls, turned into results posts for 24 different AP courses. Unfortunately, the posts were deleted some time back. I still have the data though and am now recompiling them.
Here's the schedule I'm going to try and get these posted on
It is important to note that this is self-reported data from a community of high scorers, after receiving their score. It does not reflect the general population, and people who did well on the exams were also more likely to report their experience. Some results, like average scores, should not be taken at face value. Other results like resource effectiveness, are still valuable compared to one another.
Once I have finished posting each of the courses, I will do a comparisons and conclusions post to rank courses by difficulty, expectation, etc.
Also note that we are planning to run these surveys again this year for more data after score release.
Good luck in your classes everyone!

Hi, I am a senior currently taking AP Lit. I originally signed up because I thought it might be interesting, but I never planned on taking the AP exam (I already passed the Lang exam, and most of the colleges I'm looking at only award credit for Comp I even if you take both exams).
Recently, I became aware of the option to take a dual-enrollment college Comp II course for the spring semester. I've already taken all the necessary steps to enroll, and I 100% plan on taking it, which means I will drop AP Lit and replace it with Comp II next semester. But, I have the option to continue taking Lit for the rest of this semester before dropping it.
I only need one more English credit to meet my high school graduation requirement, and a semester of Comp II fulfills this. If I continue to take AP Lit through the rest of the first semester, I would gain half a credit from it, meaning I would end the year with 1.5 credits of English from my senior year.
I initially wanted to drop Lit, but when I consulted my school counselor, they suggested I keep it because the extra 0.5 credit will act as a safety net in the event that I fail Comp II, as I would only need to scrape together another 0.5 credit for graduation. That being said, my counselor said it is highly unlikely I would fail Comp II, since I'm strong academically and already achieved a 5 on Lang.
However, I seriously do not enjoy AP Lit. Grading feels arbitrary, instructions are never clear, and I personally find it boring. I have an A in it right now, but because it's so hard to tell what my teacher actually wants, I can't guarantee I keep that A through the rest of the semester. Honestly, I don't think finishing this semester will be worth the stress, just for the small chance that I get below a C in Comp II, especially because I have other AP classes to worry about. The thing is, I am probably capable of doing well in that class if I don't drop it and try really hard.
So, should I stick it out for the rest of the semester? Would it be a bad idea to drop AP Lit just because I'm being lazy and don't want to use my energy on it? Also, am I miscalculating the difficulty of Comp II, and is it actually worlds more difficult than Lang or Lit?
I would greatly appreciate some input on this.

by no means am i a 4.0 student, however i normally only get 1 or 2 b’s per quarter and this quarter i feel like i’m falling behind. my junior year just started and i already feel as burnt out as i did at the end of sophomore year. i feel really stressed and struggle to avoid putting off my homework until really late at night which causes me to be sleep deprived, continuing the cycle. does anyone have any advice on how to stay on top of their work?

I'm a senior and have taken multiple math, science, and history APs in the past successfully but I didn't realize how much me not being a natural reader and writer would make AP Lit hell for me since I've done well enough in past english classes. This class has a much bigger workload than any other class I've taken in high school. I just got back my first major writing assignment and I got the worst grade on a major assignment I've ever gotten in my four years of high school. And I feel like I spend 90% of my homework time/effort on this class and I don't see any improvement or worthwhile results while the rest of my AP classes are manageable. But our school has a 2 week window for dropping down classes without showing a withdrawal on your transcript so now I feel like I'm stuck with this for the whole school year. Does anyone have any advice or similar experiences?

Hey everyone, can someone mark my AP COGO unit 3 frq 4 essay.
Prompt:

Essay:
"Informal political participation is greater in promoting legitimacy within a country. Not every government is going to respond to formal participation, especially authoritarian regimes. Informal participation ensures pressure on the government and the legislative body, making the legislatures and the members of the government to make discussions they were avoiding.
In the United Kingdom, the government passed a tax law where every citizen, no matter the class or financial situation, had to pay the same fixed amount. The citizens tried responding to this bizarre law formally, by providing notices and reports on how this law should be reverted. The government did not respond until the people took it into their own hands and protested. Protesting is a type of informal participation; the protest turned out to be rather violent, but as a result of this protest, the government withdrew this law and enacted another tax law that was much more satisfactory. This shows how sometimes informal participation, protesting in this case, can be more effective than formal participation.
In Russia, President Putin has enforced control over all media in Russia. The citizens have found ways to combat this by sharing online activism and political related content on underground platforms just to not be suppressed. Online Activism is considered Informal Participation. Instead of falling for the formal participation, which gives an Illusion of Influence to the people through voting, through informal participation they have genuine real influence. The illusion of influence is when governments make people think and feel like they have power, while in reality they don’t. Forms of formal participation are just included to bolster political legitimacy and to suppress protests.
Some might argue that informal participation might get shut down by authoritarian governments. This is true to some extent: everytime a government shuts down a form of informal participation the people find ways to still share their opinion and influence the domestic policies of their country through online activism, boycotting, or protesting and public gatherings.Â
In conclusion, formal participation is not effective since it gives illusions of influence and is just used to suppress the voices of the people (in authoritarian regimes). While informal political participation ensures the people have real power and influence against the suppressive governments’ wishes.

im not sure how and where should I study. My school doesn't have any ap classes but i did sign up for Calc BC, CSA, Stats, Physics C: Mech as an external candidate (Junior year). I've seen daily videos and khan academy debated. I just want to use smth to know and understand the lessons then ill be focusing on mcq's and frq's. I should probably be able to study for 4-6h or so per day (i'm doing these as a european college entry requirement and not for credits.)

Sorry the title was so vague, but I lwk failed my first progress check (to be fair, I was half asleep, but still), and I really want to get a 5 on the exam. I'm a non-native speaker and I've taken up to Spanish 3. Please give me tips, I don't want to pay $99 just to fail ðŸ˜

I feel like I learned a lot, but I don’t know how to do the FRQs and my mindset on the subject hasn't really changed. I am actually panicking for the midterm because I have 0 idea how to write the FRQ, omg.
Is there any nice resource to study APAH except the khan videos and smarthistory?? ðŸ˜

I'm a senior in GA. Due to coming to Ga in junior year, I couldn't advance in math, so I took AP Precalc online via gavs this year and plan to take BC next sem. I'm just wondering how helpful it is for the actual exam

I was considering on whether to take DE Calc 1 and DE Calc 2 during my Junior Year or just self studying AP Calc BC. I am so glad I chose the latter option because the online classes for calc 1 fill up so quick that even my classmates who registered pretty quickly had to take an alternative one which meets every single day of the weekday and I don't know about you but I am not sacrificing my 1st and 5th period for calc 1 and I don't even know why they need every single day of the week to teach basically the arithmetic of college mathematics.
I have heard though they teach some random topics that are not relevant for any real life use like I heard once the teacher gave the students a riddle about countable and uncountable infinities like oh you can count all natural numbers in a finite time because 1, 2, 3, ..... and you can count all rational numbers by using matrices and doing a zigzag. I mean its interesting, but there really is no use for it in calc 1. I know some of you might argue oh this goes to show how dumbed down ap calculus is that they don't teach these topics that has no real application and I will say this why was calculus invented in the first place? It was invented by Newton to solve physics problems not as a weed out course for students.
Because I chose the Calc BC option I have more time to do my own things and schedule my own courses and because of this being self paced I have completed every single unit on the Khan Academy course and managed to finish the AP Physics C:E&M quizzes really quickly, I wish all courses were self paced.
I will say though I am worried about Calculus 3 registration for next year because scores don't come July but registration starts early May though from what I observed the seats fill up pretty slow and if I really need to I heard I can get a prereq waiver from the math department. Maybe I can charm then with my knowledge of infinite series. Also calculus 3 has no online course which I think is asinine because you don't have to be in person to learn mathematics, my experience has taught me that, but still I will only be getting Thursdays off from calc 3.
This is just an opinion piece for students who are choosing between these two options

Hello! I am a Junior in High School, and I’m currently taking 5 AP’s, but I also want to self study AP Calc AB, so that I can learn about Calculus, and possibly take the AP Calc AB test.
What resources could I use to help myself study for AP Calc AB, and if there are any practice questions or tests for certain units online, thanks!
