Each month you will find the newest collection megathread pinned at the top of the sub. Individual pickup and haul posts will still be allowed as normal for now.
Thanks for understanding, and enjoy sharing your collection posts here in the thread.
Edit: Within this thread, the rule of 50% or more 4Ks is not going to be as strict, as we understand many people mix their media. That said, your collection picture should prominently feature your 4K collection, and not just be a wall of DVDs, etc. There are other subs for posts of your media outside of 4K UHDs. Thank you.

I have a DP-UB450GN (Australian model, Region B). I wanted to play some US Region A Blu-rays without flashing the jailbreak firmware that's been floating around.
I found a way to make the player region-free using just a USB drive and any Blu-ray disc. No firmware modification, no soldering, fully reversible and it takes about 5 minutes.
Update your player's firmware first (Setup, System, Firmware Update). The region change might not survive a future update, so get that out of the way before you start.
You run a Python script on your computer that builds the files, copy them to a FAT32 USB drive, plug it into the player, and insert a disc. Power off, remove USB, power on. That's it. Your original region is backed up to the USB automatically, and there's a restore mode to undo it.
Tested on:
Untested but should work:
If you try it on a different model, please open an issue so I can update the compatibility list.

Saw this and wasn’t sure if they would end up sending the standard bluray or the 4k + bluray 2 disc set. Received it today and it was the standard 4k + bluray set (not the special edition but still the best price I’ve seen for the standard 4k), which seemed like a good deal. Just wanted to give a heads up

Got this from a local game store! Just watched the first one on VHS the other day, then found found this the next day. Really wish it also had Army of Darkness, but it includes all three seasons of Ash vs Evil Dead on Blu-ray! Really like the case, because it slides open from the middle, just don't know how to put it on my shelf 😂
Forgot to take a picture of the book inside where all the disks are, so that's a photo off of Amazon.

This is so gorgeous. It has some of the best use of HDR I’ve ever seen. The detail in the image is so pristine, without obvious edge enhancement or over sharpening. The colors just pop of the screen. This is a new reference disc for me. Viewing on my LG G5 77” from 6 feet away. U guys are in for a treat.

I’ve shown her every Evil Dead movie and Ash Vs Evil Dead but somehow never got around to Army of Darkness. When I saw the steelbook on sale I had to fix that. Ended up getting this and the Evil Dead 2013 steelbook through Gruv.
The cover art is great and the movie looks amazing. I was surprised by how good it looks. Will definitely make this an annual Halloween rewatch.

Hey all, since getting into physical media my adoration for the look of film vs digital has exploded, to the point I have a stupid grin on my face just seeing how good the setting looks and how real it feels. The town in Jaws for example.
Would love any recommendations for small town or similar setting movies shot on film, any genre is fine, but big bonus if it is mystery/thriller at all!
I might have a lot already, but there is probably a lot lesser known ones so hoping to learn about some I've not seen:) Thanks!
Edit: Thanks so much everyone, I only had a few of the dozens I am seeing here already so that is great. (The Thing, The Birds, The Place Beyond the Pines) and only had 1 of the others on my list to get soon (First Blood).

Hi everyone,
I’m really excited to start my 4K movie collection. This is my first special edition—Project Hail Mary—although I did buy Batman v Superman many years ago, hahaha. I loved it back then, but anyway, I’m considering several titles—basically the most well-known ones, like Blade Runner, Alien, The Lord of the Rings and many others—but I’d appreciate it if you could share your suggestions with me.
I’d also like to know if I should buy a dedicated player like the Panasonic 820—and maybe a Magnetar in the future. For now, I’ll be using my PS5 to play the movies. Thank you very much.

Good health to you all. I have been following everyone's journey (or at least as many as I can) on this forum.
I'm also old enough to remember the battle between Betamax and VHS. Don't judge me. 😂.
I've had Tape, Laser Disc, DVD and Blu Ray (I know I haven't listed a few other formats) but as with many here, life caught up and I settled into the streaming purgatory of consumption, through my LG OLED, Apple 4k and SONOS system.
It was actually my youngest son who woke me from my stupor when he started buying 4k blu rays and watching them on his PS5 at his place.
He would visit, and I'd watch a few of them on my Xbox series X.
I won't go into how that opened my eyes again. As I've said, I've read your very similar stories.
Anyway, using you all as inspiration, and a bit of alternative research, I looked at the Sony X700, Panasonic 450 and 820, and jumped left, instead of right or center, ending up with the Krovatar KBU300.
I'm not going to say anything more on that choice as there's been umpteen posts already.
I'm just here to say I've now got my 'other half' on my case, for as you can now see in the photos. Hardware purchase aside, Arrow video sales, be damned, not to mention The Criterion Collection and the consumer demon, Amazon.
Lawrence of Arabia, Blade Runner The Final Cut, Andor season one, Rogue One, Pacific Rim, Nolan's Collection, Star Trek 6 Movie Collection, Snyder's Collection, etc. It's gotten silly, in a very short period of time.
The sad thing is, we have all the streaming services still, and I've just started watching Terminal List, Season 2 and yes, I'm looking for perfect in an imperfect world.
Thanks you all for your posts. Enjoy your collections. I will continue to read them with interest. Good health.
PS, any of the more obscure 4k masterpiece recommendations are welcome. Thank you.

Been a long time since I’ve seen this one. The second disc has an International Cut on Blu-Ray.

Just revisited La Haine on BFI’s 4K UHD Blu-ray, and bloody hell, what a film.
Thirty years later, it still feels remarkably relevant. The cinematography is extraordinary, and the black-and-white photography looks fantastic in 4K.
BFI have done a wonderful job with this release. The Dolby Vision presentation delivers beautiful contrast, deep blacks and excellent fine detail while retaining that lovely natural film texture. Exactly what I want from a 4K restoration.
I’ve put together a short Reel showcasing the edition and talking a little about the film and its restoration.
Curious what everyone else thinks. How does this transfer compare with other black-and-white 4K releases? And is La Haine one of the greatest French films ever made?

No word on a release date other than 2027.
From award-winning director Stephen Daldry, BILLY ELLIOT once again springs to life in a breathtaking 4K restoration under the direction of Daldry. Warning: may cause an uncontrollable urge to dance...
Coming to 4K UHD in 🇫🇷 from the end of January, with further international releases to follow.

I currently have a UB450 and bought a UB820 yesterday since it was 17% off. I was planning on returning the UB450, but Amazon is now offering to do a partial refund and keep the item. What would you do? I bought it at $298. Do you think the UB450 would dip below $240?

So, I recently completed my home theater build. I decided to go with a Panasonic ub820. Everything was going well and I had been growing my collection of 4k discs with all the sales. Just over a month into ownership I’m running into disc reading errors on brand new discs. I power cycled the player, updated firmware, and even resorted to cleaning brand new discs to no avail. Panasonic has me sending in the player for repair.
Just wanted to know if anyone has had to send their player in for a similar repair did it resolve their issues for a long period of time?

Just curious how anal I'm being when I put in a disc where I inspect it every time and wipe it with a microfiber cloth if I see the tiniest imperfection.
Do you guys just put the disc in and send it, or do you do the same?
This is a question for discs you already own and use, I'll alway inspect a first time opening.
Yes the title was click bait.

I don’t think anything in my collection will ever top this…

Sorry if this is a silly question, this would be my first 4k purchase and from my understanding some films don't get much out of it or get really bad rereleases, so I want to be sure before I make a decision.

Great cast. Great script. Great on 4K.
I wish Kilmer had won Best Supporting, but Biehn might even be better.
