Hey everyone! Iām hoping to apply for a 482 visa with my employer as an Architectural Draftsperson in WA, but Iām concerned about the one-year work experience requirement.
Iāve been working with my current employer for six months. My previous relevant experience was overseas and falls just outside the five-year window. Does that mean I wouldnāt be eligible to apply yet, or could that older experience still be considered?
I only have four months left on my 485, so the timing is getting tight. Iāve also submitted EOIs for the 190 and 491 with 80 points before nomination points, but as far as Iām aware, WA hasnāt invited Architectural Draftspersons this year.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Iād appreciate any advice or experiences you can share!
Please I really need some support

Hi everyone! Just wanted to share our visa timeline as we finally got our grant today!! šš¦šŗ
Visa: 482 Specialist Skill
DOL: July 24, 2026
DOG: October 15, 2026
Occupation: Solution Consultant (nominated under ICT Account Manager ā ANZSCO 225211)
Dependents: 2 (spouse and child)
The uncertainty surrounding MD119 and MD121 made the past few months incredibly stressful for our family, especially with so many life plans on hold.
Weāre just so relieved and happy that we can finally move forward with our lives! š„¹
Wishing everyone whoās still waiting the very best of luck! Hope you all get your grants soon! š¤

How many people waiting offshore in priority 4/5?
Anyone see any movement in priority 4&5? Any nomination approval of visa grants?
Filed the nomination and visa start of this month. Backlog looks scary š
Anyone in the same boat? Misery loves company.. lets connect?
What are your occupations?
Are your sponsors accredited?
When did you file? Visa and nominations?
Single application or with family?
My partner is a chef with accredited sponsor waiting offshore.
Md 121 is sooo bad. We were in Australia 1st half of this year after 500&485
Looked for sponsors offshore and the government came up with MDs against offshore applications š„²
Whats your story?
1
u/private-chef7606 1d ago
Also a single chef whose visa is lodged on 30 jan. Till now still no progress on anything even nomination. Medical is done the same done when the visa is lodged. My immigration lawyer said the waiting timeline for this visa is 9 months, guess i will see after october

u/Solid-Albatross8475 6d ago
md 121 is actually great for a lot of offshore applicants
1
u/No_Perception_4713 6d ago
Only if you are priority 1 or paid over 150k
2
u/Solid-Albatross8475 6d ago
well it does seem unrealistic to expect that the government doesnāt have priority occupations and will not favour them for immigration.
1
u/No_Perception_4713 6d ago
Just doesnt mean others arent important!
1
u/Solid-Albatross8475 5d ago
priority means more important. p4 and p5 arenāt just rejected. yall just have to wait longer. it doesnāt mean p4 and p5 are not going to be processed or will be under more scrutiny.
1
u/No_Perception_4713 4d ago
What do u reckon the timelines would be? To reach p4/p5?
2
u/Solid-Albatross8475 4d ago
I was in P5 because of md119. my lawyer told me that i would have to wait a year. but since that was all the visas grouped together, i feel like P4/P5 will take at least 7 to 8 months.

u/Solid-Albatross8475 8d ago
I filed around the same time (offshore, P1, 15th september). I believe we are seeing grants for 1st or 2nd week of august. the last P1 grant i saw was from around 11th august and their visa was granted on 2nd october. based on this pace of movement i expect to hear from the DHA within 20 to 30 days at most.

u/Direct-Whole234 5d ago
Healthcare p1 seems to be moving fast construction is around April lodgments it seemsĀ
5
u/Professional-Web3902 10d ago
Any P2 grants recently ? Or is it a ZERO movement
2
u/davidm1988 6d ago
Saw (and verified) someone on Facebook who was a P2 Specialist Skills grant. DOL 25/07 and granted 02/10.
It would suggest that they we closing in on August by now... But I am P2 DOL 14/08 and have had nothing... and have not really seen many other P2 grants at all.
2
u/Necessary-Bid6089 5d ago
Would you mind sharing more information about the case you saw on Facebook please?
I am P2, DOL August 7th1
u/davidm1988 5d ago
It was on the 482 and 186 visa community group on FB by a user called Paul Lange, who said:
DOL 25/7 DOG 02/10 482 specialist,Ā financial dealer,Ā P2, offshore

Do anyone know what's happening with the visa processing? It's so slow and the guide timeline keep changing for the past 3 months. I really wish for my grants soon...
2
u/No_Perception_4713 9d ago
Waiting for a news on any p4-p5 movement whatsoever. Applied 5th oct 26 but a confirmation that any files have moved along would be really helpful!!
If anyone has got any nominations approved for offshore chef 482, especially accredited sponsor please reply or dm!1
u/Solid-Albatross8475 10d ago
md119 and md121 happened in the past three months obviously the processing will be slow
0
u/private-chef7606 8d ago
Can you please elaborate? I tried to look for this in google but i dont quite understand how this will affect the speed of the visa processing
1
u/Solid-Albatross8475 8d ago
so basically, rules about visa processing changed in july this year and then again in September. the first change caused massive delays in the timeline for all offshore 482 visas because that became lowest priority for all visa categories. the second change (ministerial directive 121) was introduced to speed up 482 processing based on shortage of workers in particular industries. thats what the different priorities mean. if you are priority 4 then your application will be looked at accordingly. you could expect a wait of 6 or more months. since the change just happened a couple weeks ago, we dont really know how much time the DHA will take to process different applications

u/private-chef7606 5d ago
Thank you for the explanation! Although reading this is and knowing this fact makes me more devastated :(

I'm deliberately not giving you any more information.Ā Do your own homework.Ā Ā

do they have to finish everyone in P1, in order to start working on P2? Can someone please confirm if this is how priority grouping work for visas?
not seeing grants for those who are solely P2 (i.e. not P1+P2) at all.
1
u/Professional-Web3902 13d ago
You are right. No grants at all for P2. They are only looking at P1 or P1+P2 so far. At this pace, not sure when they will start looking at P2
1
u/Complex_Two_4452 11d ago
I did some calculations on this a week or two ago. Would not expect any substantial movement before end-October. So give it another three weeks.
1
u/Professional-Web3902 11d ago
How did you arrive at the calculation bro? Just curious
1
u/Solid-Albatross8475 9d ago
i have seen two P2 grants. check the main subreddit not this megathread. those applications were lodged in june or july.
also, another way to get some idea would be to keep an eye on how fast the dha moves through tier 1 and 2. for example, dha moved from oct 2025 applications to feb 2026 applications for tier 1 within ~2 weeks of md121 being in effect.1
u/Complex_Two_4452 11d ago
There are statistics out there. Look at the number of applications processed daily, current applications on hand in DHA, share of applications sitting in each priority group, adjust for almost lack of onshore P1 backlog due to MD119, etc.
1
u/Complex_Two_4452 11d ago
August grants for P2 "should" come end-October/early-November, September grants "should" come in November.
1
u/No_Perception_4713 12d ago
Feel stupid to even ask when will they process ours (P5)š„²
1
u/Direct-Whole234 5d ago
They are processing p5s it doesnāt work like they process p1 then p2 and so onĀ
2
u/GoogoxNobo 13d ago
Sharing my timeline in case it's helpful to others:
- Occupation: University Lecturer
- Applied From: Offshore
- Priority Categories: P1 (teaching) and P2 (specialist skills)
- Lodged: 11 August 2026
- Granted: 2 October 2026
- Further Information Requests: None
It took a lot longer than the 1-2 weeks that specialist skills applications used to take before all the recent changes to the ministerial directions, but still came in under 2 months.

Subclass 482 ā S57/PIC 4020 ā Long Processing Time
Hi everyone, Iām looking for advice from anyone who has experienced a similar case.
- Subclass 482 (Medium-term), Welder
- Lodged: 19 June 2024
- Nomination approved: 11 December 2024
- S57/PIC 4020 letter received: 28 July 2026
- Responded with supporting evidence: 17 August 2026
- New medical requested and completed: 10 September 2026

The S57 concerned verification of a previous employment reference. I provided additional HR/employment evidence and supporting documents in my response.
Has anyone had a similar S57/PIC 4020 case? If so, how long after submitting the S57 response and completing the new medical did you receive a final decision?
