I'm looking for: A certain genre? Something specific like characters traveling to another world?
Shows I've already seen that are similar: You can include a link to a list on another site if you have one, e.g. MyAnimeList or AniList.

Romelia War Chronicle is probably headrunner for AOTS and continues to be very impressive. In terms of mature presentation, dialogue and even production values exceeding what I thought was coming in.
I would note Holes, Nia and Wedding are the other impressive new shows to add. But Romelia is something very different then what we get with anime.
Reminds me of Sword of the Demon Hunter post episode 1. Sadly that anime got cursed with terrible production values.

It's not something that will make you watch or not watch a seasonal. But one being consecutive cours is something I come to appreciate more lately.

I've seen comments before than Apothecary Diaries is lightweight compared to Yatagarasu and actual Chinese palace dramas. Not as gritty and dark. It seems like it's catching up.

Lighter in tone more frequently, sure. "Lightweight"? Only to people who pay insufficient attention.

I think people who were saying that were overlooking Apothecary Diaries' structure. Whereas other series have big drama after big drama, Apothecary Diaries is many small dramas that fit as puzzle pieces towards the season's major drama. Having small dramas in addition to major dramas doesn't make the major dramas less major.

Eh, it's not just about the drama itself, it's the general tone. Lots of Chinese palace dramas are made to feel constantly tense and threatening at every corner, Kusuriya has its dramatic arcs, sure, but it's overall tone is lighter, thanks to Maomao, even when discussing rough topics, and I'd argue that that's one of its best features. It's what sold me on the series in the first place.

If we had stayed in Chiba just one more day last year, we would likely have done this. Instead we settled on the easier (for us) Kominato Railroad (which was having ITS 100th birthday that year). It really looked liked it should be fun to do.

I'm saying this as a source reader, it's not that hard to let anime onlies enjoy whatever the fuck they want.
God knows there are more than enough source readers to discuss the source with.

Firefly Wedding

I tread carefully on series I am most familiar with (multi-time re-reader of AoB and Apothecary Diaries). And I think a fairly large proportion of others behave similarly as to those. I wonder why some series manifest fairly toxic source readers?

I imagine that they lean younger and want to share their feelings, but aren't aware of the boundaries or how it affects others' experiences? Then again, I remember certain fans sending spoilery messages to people who made it very clear that they did not want to be spoiled, so idk what's going on there

I personally am utterly unaffected by spoilers around 99% of the time (I often self-spoil) -- maybe (paradoxically) that makes me try to be ultra-careful about them.

Me too, but it's best as a matter of choice. We can choose what we want to learn, and give others that choice too.

Bleach TYBW comes back Monday so thought it was about time to watch the last episode which I never got around to. Forgot what had happened before so I kind of watch the two before it as well. And man, watching them all in a row just reinforces the problems with this cour. Yhwach is the worst character and everything with him is just tedious. To think I used to really enjoy this show too. Now I just want it to end already. Two more weeks and it will, I guess. Sad.
