Help / Question Looking for advice as a newbie
Hi all, I started the game two days ago, and I must say it is really frustrating so far from what I see in ranked. For context, I played chunli first then cammy, I won 5/10 placement for chunli and got 600lp, won 6/10 for cammy and somehow placed at 4600lp. Worse still, I see the most problem with players of Ryu and Ken in this rank, as all they do is hadouken and uppercut when you jump near, and I mean the WHOLE GAME. It is lowkey unplayable as those players really make me question the purpose of playing at all. Any advice about rank and how to counter these sorts of tactics by these people would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

I mean if you wanna learn to counter ryu and Kens who spam hadouken and uppercut then go training and you can choose to practice stuff and also you can record something for the training opponent to do like the uppercut or hadouken and you can learn to counter
Or you can jus spam drive impact and that one sick looking air grab thing cammy has and they'll give them a taste of their own medicine

But also if you jus started 2 days ago then since you don't rlly know whoever ypu want to main too well then they can just stop you with hadouken or uppercut and you don't know how to cook them

Sorry can you elaborate? Thanks, I’m not too familiar with the functions of the game

If you go to training then go to the menu on training there's different stuff you can practice like practicing against air attacks. But also you can switch to controlling the character you're playing against in training(ryu or ken)by pressing well I'm on switch 2 n it's pressing on the right movement stick, make them do an uppercut or hadouken and then they'll do that when you press play and you can practice against it
But if you learn to play whoever you want to play more then you'll just naturally learn how to counter them cause you'll be better w your character

Heya welcome, this is my sorta auto-response to new players asking for help.
First off, This video covers everything you could be asking about and then there's pretty much anything from diaphone, j wong, Chris f and Brian f for good quality. They each have their beginner guides.

Keep your head up, this game is hard and it takes a long time to get good at it. Take it one step at a time, and try to only do one thing right at a time, not everything. That way you will remain hopeful and hungry for more.

That's called zoning. A legit tactic. (Like if you were them, you'd do it too until the other guy solves it.)
So solve it.
Chun-Li actually has three counters to fireballs - 1) Stance ground fist-slide 2) QCB kick to smash them overhead. 3) Also her charged fireballs can overwhelm theirs (but don't do this too much, you can't win serious fireball fights against those guys.)
Cammy Spin knuckles can get past them. Demonstate you got that in the locker and they'll think twice about throwing balls. Plus Hooligan will likely get through if you time it right. And her Lv3 stuffs fireballs so hard you want them to throw one.
Aside from moves it's possible to get in if you time the fireball jump correctly. But this is hard. (And i'm not even sure is always possible.) I usually just throw the counter moves out.
Point is, you're not familiar with your characters' tools at this point. Chun and Cammy are relatively good at beating fireballs. But whatever you do, don't jump willy nilly. That's exactly what they want you to do.

Yep, not complaining it’s existence but I’m just trying to beat it😃. Thanks a lot, you are one of the few real ones who actually helped me a lot here, I really appreciate you taking your time.

Don't worry about players that play shotos extremely fireball heavy. It's not one of the best ways to play Ryu or Ken and once you figure out the way around it you'll be steam rolling people that play them "old school".
Drive Parry fireballs and walk forward until they're cornered as a newcomer. If they're predictable or you want to make a read then go for a jump in as well. Landing one jump in combo is greater than getting anti aired 5 times, no resources spent for most characters. So don't get discouraged if you're anti aired for trying to predict a fireball.
Also with ranking, you're likely to rank higher than your first placed character. It's also better to say rank by the mineral name (iron-diamond, or Rookie) since most (me) don't know ranks by LP. Silver 3 is much easier to understand.
Try to figure out who you want to play and stick to one character. Switch when you're bored or not feeling the character. You're more likely to learn the fundamentals and have things stick by playing 1-2 characters.

You're saying you can't beat scrubs?
My guy, it sounds like you have 0 idea how to play the game and are already complaining about other players.
Learn how to play. Learn to not jump; learn to block and punish people doing dumb stuff. Learn to parry, learn to counter-di.

By human psychology, once one grasp the skills of things like this game for example, they forget the feeling of not knowing it once upon a time. As I respectfully said I downloaded the game two days ago, so I’m not sure what to make from your hubristic response. Thank you nonetheless for your time

Hey nice poem there princess.
My point being you talk about the game as if you know anything about it.
You're talking about placement matches and LP as if any of that matters. You're talking about losing to basic special moves. You're asking for nonsense advice.
You should be asking about fundamentals of low rank game play. You should be asking advice on how to understand the very basics of the game.
Also stop talking like a 16th century poet.

So using one word got you all acted up. Make sense. Everybody has a opinion on how to live life these days

Some Street Fighter players don't understand that we aren't born knowing how to play. So just ignore them; pay attention to those who genuinely want you to improve.

That's one of the fundamental of Street Fighter. They fireball you enough, then wait for you to jump and then they anti-air you. The thing is, they cannot fireball you and anti-air you at the same time. So you can time the jump at the same time as they fireball and punish them, or you can walk, parry, walk, parry, until you are close enough to hit them with your normals. The fireball animation is slow, so you will hit first if you both attack at the same time.
